Im not against smoking but I seriously can't see why someone wouldn't be able to hang on until the end of a set before having another smoke - if an hour/hour and a half is too much for them to take then they really need to calm it down...

If there is one thing I hate it is being told by a sanctimonious non-smoker that smoking is harmful to my health. Especially when they are usually totally and utterly wasted, binge drinking is also quite hazardous, or so I hear.

What gets me is the number of people will partake of a "small cigar" and then claim to be non-smokers. I really hope all this sort of bollocks gets left at the gate and people get into live and let live mode, even if it's only for a few blissful days.

Yeah The smoking ban has made smokers more social then non smokers!...........When forced to the outside of a club/pub that is so loud inside that you cant hear yourself think let alone the person beside you shouting at you for your attention its nice to give the ears a rest, blacken the lungs and have a proper conversation with fellow smokers..........You would be surprised who you meet out there also and you already know you have at least 2 things in common..........(You both smoke and your are both cold!!)............

Smoking...............Alowing you to socialise properly since July 1st 2007 (29th March 2004 in Ireland!)

And making you look cool since...........well forever!

my only problem with the smokers is 99% of them just chuck their butts all over the fields. As if it is an acceptable form of littering.

Also, why do you continue to smoke in the tents if you know it is not allowed? Do you piss in the stream too?

Totally agree with you the majority of non smokers who moan about the smokers are the one that boast about binge drinking but hate to say it the government have already started to pick of drinkers now they have finished with the smoker and next yes it will be fatty foods.

Smokers quoting Bill Hicks to justify themselves, how tiresome.

Hardcore anti smoking people are pretty boring.

But smokers banging on about how cool they are = just as boring.

Smokers complaining about the smoking ban = how f**king selfish are you? Smoking has a direct impact on EVERYBODY around you. You can chose to smoke outside but if people who don't smoke are around you are running roughshoud over their choice not to smoke. It's not too hard to just move outside for five minutes is it? Most of the smokers I know quite enjoy their little sojourns outside. You can do whatever you want to your own body, but why not think about the impact it has on others.

For the ledger, I dislike smoking because tobacco corporations rip off farmers in the third world, who are then addicted to the products that are sold back to them at inflated prices continuing the cycle of poverty.

Yeah why would a smoker want to be like a non smoker. Less chance of several cancers and numerous illnesses; healthier skin, hair, teeth and nails; less smell; save money; no addiction etc etc

I'd have to disagree. I was a full time smoker until December '07. Standing outside cold pubs with strangers whilst your mates are inside is not cool. God bless the smoking ban I say, I feel better, don't smell, and have already saved shed loads!

I found the ban was pretty much in force in the tents. Many stewards I spoke too were very good about letting you stand out of the rain on the Friday. As a smoker I will flout the ban if appropriate and no one objects - but tbh if you're in the middle of a packed tent watching a good band then an hour without one does not bother me. Sitting on the grass with a cider watching Cohen last year - well it would not have been right without a smoke or two.....

Fair enough but maybe you feel akward in such circumstances...........maybe to cant or wont interact with strangers......maybe you go to pubs/clubs which are not that friendly and socially inclusive...........

Haven't been to Glasto since the Smoking ban. What about 'non tobacco' related smoking ? I suppose the same rule applies ?
