Yes, I know who Tim Armstrong is, yes I know who Rancid are, yes I am aware of, and even enjoy ( ) some of their music.

At no point did I say, or even suggest that all AM fans are ignorant know nothings! I merely implied that some of them probably don't know much about Rancid/Tim Armstrong , particularly those who consider Alex whatshisface a legend, I was merely offering some perspective!

Yeah, I like them, though when I saw them a couple of years ago, they attracted a very Oasis, scally-type crowd (not saying everyone who likes them is a scumbag BTW, me for example, just that they attract a higher number of scumbags than some other bands).

I do think they stand out from the recent crop of tight jeans and hooped top bands by some distance but whether they're going to be a 'legend'-need a couple more decent albums yet IMHO

Plus, while I'll watch 'em, they're certainly the more 'expendable' of the 3 headliners in my eyes, if anybody good headlines the FR Stage at the same time

I think makes the concern about the kind of people it attracts pretty valid.

As for Alex Turner, hes not a legend, he never will be, he writes songs for stupid people who think he's got an accent, he talks about fighting and pubs, i relate to that. Sortof like the enemy but a little bit better.

Im just saying that the majority of the people burning things will be AM fans, not all arctic monkeys fans burn things. Totally different.

But lyrically (basing it on the first album only) its always seemed very simple. Sortof like Peter Kay comedy, and The Sun. I dont like that.

i understand what he's saying - arctic monkeys do appeal to a lot of people, and most people who will be burning things will likely BE fans. not "every arctic monkeys fan will burn stuff." makes sense if you think about it, there's no point denying that arctic monkeys do also attract that "crowd"

i'm speaking from an objective viewpoint by the way - i love arctic monkeys and am really looking forward to them. i did have a bit of a laugh at some poster above who was saying everyone who listens to arctic monkeys is stupid and does so just for his accent. how very narrow minded. i think even the haters would agree that was just a daft thing to say.

as for the lyrics, i always heard a strong john cooper clarke influence in them. anyone hear the resemblance?

As for the second album, i will admit i've never gave it a chance, which i probably should. Considering the only song i really like is Teddy picker, and thats one of the songs ive properly listened to from that album.

I am talking mainly about the people who dont listen to them in depth or even really like music much though. pretty much on about the whole "Chav", lets burn things following though, which they do have, no matter what you say.

Let's be honest, ALL bands have dickhead fans.

You can't say the people burning stuff will have been Arctic Monkeys, Oasis scally types, because nobody has been up to these people and said "Excuse me, what are your musical preferences?"

It's usually just based on assumption and sometimes even clothing.
