Jamie T - Please Read

Its starting to piss me off that on every topic everybody is finding a way to complain about Jamie T headlining no matter what the topic is about. So please read this before you do, and if you disagree with me, then complain away.

Please read this:

Part of the answer to the second question is "but once we announce the Lock-Up Stage and announce TWO Radio 1 stage headliners that are both huge rock acts people will see how rounded it is"

Thats TWO headlining acts that needed to be announced. At the time of the interview, only the Gossip and Glasvegas had been announced as joint headliners. This meant two more to be announced, i.e. Lost Prophets and one more! Jamie T was already on the line up at this stage, and had not been announced as a NME headliner so cannot be one of the two that were still going to be announced. It is a reliable source as for a start its with the guy that books all the bands, secondly, he basically stated that Lost Prophets would be playing in the final answer, and look what has come true, they are!

Apart from all that, Jamie T is nowhere near big enough to Headline NME, is not a rock act like promised, and nobody would be stupid enough to allocate him a NME headlining spot (nobody, even the same guy that has booked Bloc Party three years in a row).

The only reason Jamie T is up there is because they wanted to put it into the Proper Line Up format on the poster given that two of the three NME headliners had been announced. They couldnt exactly put up two sets of bands then just leave the sunday (for leeds) bands across the bottom in a line.

If anybody disagrees with this, please state why (and if your right i will probably cry). Apart from that, can everybody please keep this bumped, so that people will refrain from whining in everybody elses topics.

They may well have had another rock band in mind that have since pulled? Jane's Addiction or Weezer anyone?

I personally am still going to disagree with you and say that they wouldn't have made the poster that explicit if Jamie T wasn't headlining.

But I would like to be proven wrong :P This just isn't that proof I'm afraid...

If he headlines it will be the death of the festival IMO. He played early afternoon 2 years ago and hasn't got any bigger since. Surely if there was a cancellation perhaps moving a band from the main stage to headline the radio 1 would be a better idea.

I agree with the original poster. I have seen no official statement, in black and white, that Jamie T is headlining. However all the other bands have been mentioned in either nme or on the leeds news section. I therefore refuse to believe it until someone from fr or nme says "JAMIE T IS HEADLINING" in those exact words.

You might be right - but going purely on past experience of how that poster is put together, I can only remember two occasions since 06 that the order of the acts has changed or a band has been slotted in without having a "Special Guest" label beforehand.

Having said that, they do appear to have put this particular poster together in a big hurry, looking at that horrific Lostprophs logo...

READING FRIDAY (AUGUST 28)/ LEEDS SUNDAY (30)

Jamie T

Friendly Fires

Florence And The Machine

READING SATURDAY (29)/ LEEDS FRIDAY (28)

Gossip

Glasvegas

White Lies

The Maccabees

READING SUNDAY (30)/ LEEDS SATURDAY (29)

Lostprophets

AFI

Gallows

The Gaslight Anthem

(from NME.com)

Three bands on the Friday vs. four bands on the other days, suggests there's still a headliner to be announced.

NME said on the original announcement that Glasvegas and Gossip are the onlky headliners.

This was when Jamie T had been announced.

Hes not headlining.

I'm starting to think it could be Slipknot, all the evidence is in my head:

They were offered a slot at Reading this year.

They could make up for last year.

They fit that guys description.

FR would cover-up their appearance as much as possible before Download.

They would make me happy.

And with that, I think we can agree it's Slipknot!

Aside from my foolish optimism, why arn't Offspring announced yet? They're playing a German festival 4 days before Reading... Seriously though the logo thing throws me off alot, but maybe that's what it's suppose to do? Otherwise they'd have announced this supposed headliner.

I know you might be joking but others may think theres something to this so...

Its 100% not Slipknot

From the Download Forums FAQ

Q- Are Slipknot playing at Sonisphere? I saw something on their website that suggested they were?

A- No, Download has a UK exclusive for Slipknot this year.
