Figure I'll get in on the Download line up arguments...

I'm not sure about the Download line up this year either tbh, I guess I'm just too young for alot of it. Most of the bands were past it when I started listening to rock music, it amazes me so many of them can still get a top 3 slot at a festival the size of Download but that's just a testament to the state of rock and metal at the moment in the mainstream I guess.

Even Slipknot seems an odd choice for headliner, I swear they were far more relevent when they were second headliners the past few times they did Download?

But yeah, there are bands I want to see but so far nothing has blown me away and there's no one making me want to instantly book my ticket tommorow. I'd imagine the depth will come through in the end, should be the lower stages I find the most value anyway, and I doubt we've got many bands for those.

yeah i love my metal, but the times ive been to download ive ended up chuckling not at the emo kids, but the metal heads, most of them are just super nerds who go on about how metal they are. black leather and studs doesnt make you metal, just a bit camp and funny to look at

Going further off topic

Does anyone have a map of the campsite?

The first time i went to T i knew the camp mapsite off by heart and what there was to do xD but so far no idea what there is to do in the campsite at Download

Download is more tolerant I'd say. You could wear what the f**k you want and nobody would bat an eyelid. There's hundereds to do in the campsite Wed and Thurs and Fri Sat Sun nights with Burlesque, comedians, guitar hero comps, rock karaoke, huge fair ground and cinema, etc. Download has a better vibe I'd say as it is bigger but still feels relaxed.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
