WEATHER 2009 !

If it's going to rain I'd rather it all in one go and get it out the way, like 2005. 2007 was horrible because the rain was pretty much constant. Hopefully we won't have to worry about it this year, I'm sure we'll get some rain, but fingers crossed it won't be enough to cause a mudbath.

MetCheck now only forecasting showers on Saturday. They've obviously just had their crack fix for the day and are in a good mood.

Packing the wellies and sunscreen... again...!

Well, obviously... that's one of the last things you want in the long drops... a stampede... :P

I still don't understand, though, why you think a slanted roof mounted 4 feet above the long drops will turn it into an oven! :)

i think if we get past friday, relatively dry, it will be super.....i think all other days are nailed on sun...friday is about 5050

ill settle for that even if it pisses on friday, 2 days of drying mud either side would do for me...

Because the idea was a centre-court style mega roof.

I once did a pretty oppressive fart in my dad's greenhouse once. Believe you me, it wasn't pleasant. The chilli plants that keeled over dead didn't think so either, ironic really because it was from the curry made with said chillis that gave me the rectal disfunction in the first place.

Just think of the damage you could have caused with a lit match.... :P

The long drops with the little slightly detached roof are great - the best of both worlds. The airiness of a longdrop with the waterproofing of a portaloo - perfect!

I have just dropped in to this thread for today and I think the feeling is slightly better than yesterday. I'm more optomistic AND I've decided that sod it - I'll be fine either way. I realised that I'll wear the same clothes either way - the only difference will be the footwear and the pac-a-mac. Unpredictable weather may also help to decide some major clashes for me - e.g - Fleet Foxes on a lovely summer evening - perfect. Fleet foxes whilst it's pissing down - errrrm no! - I'm off to Dreadzone for a bop!

I am now ready to embrace muddiness if the skies decide it, whilst still keeping my fingers crossed that the Gods will smile on my good humour and give me sun instead! :P

Any one remember the guy with the canoe in 2005?

I often wondered where he got his weather forecast from. He was very well prepared. While some of us were undecided about whether to bring Wellies or not, he already knew that at some point that weekend, he was going to need a Canoe.

The big question is: Will he be taking a Canoe this year? :P

Ok after all the doom and gloom stories of the last 24 hours it seems things are on the move again.

Metcheck has almost no rain and good temperatures

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/7days.asp

Netweather has better temperatures and broad agreement on the rain

http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=10day;sess=

BBC has a heavy shower on Friday but not much else

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/307...hepton%20Mallet

Altogether looking much brighter today than it did this time yesterday

Doing it the other way around would mean that the bags would split, as you'd be walking on them, and you'd end up with wet converse, wet socks and wet feet. The way the OP does it means that only his shoes get wet.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
