Moving swiftly on...

Soulfly have just confirmed two UK dates in Brighton and London on June 15th and 16th respectively. That is all.

I'm sure there's a thread on the official forums showing Hardcore Superstar as self-confirmed.

If that s/c is for real, they'd make a great third stage band, would hope for them early Friday or maybe below Architects on the Saturday. Would also make up for them pulling out in 2007.

Edit: Hardcore Superstar Official Website - News Page including self-confirm!

There you go. Get in! Saturday as well. Hope they get a decent spot.

my guess goes that Hardocre Superstar will be around the Static X and The Answer sort of time on 2nd stage...

i'm starting to maybe, finally, actually give up hope of Gojira... <_<

but we'll see what the final announcement says huh! some clown on the official forums seemed to believe another 40+ bands would be added. i seriously, seriously doubt thats gonna happen!!!

Ah well, at least the latest sonisphere announcement fills in what happened to Heaven & Hell... Ah well, early days I was looking forward to them being announced but the way the line up is now I'm not too upset!!

I really hope Gojira are one of those Saturday second stage bands. Or maybe even early Saturday main - now that Gallows have confirmed they aren't playing Download (see Rumour Roundup thread on forums). I'm trying to remain optimistic as I reluctantly didn't go to their UK tour earlier this year due to lack of funds.

I'm expecting the final announcement to have one or two killer bands in there, should make for something extra positive to look forward to.

How many 2nd stage bands we expecting for Saturday left?

3 maybe 4?

Hardcore Superstar

Black Tide

Rise to Remains [if they haven't been dropped form the line up]

might not been anymore announcements after those

EDIT- you know what, Ive looked at their myspace, and it really looks like Black Tide aren't going to play, they have an Australia date and then US dates

no European at all, doesn't look good for me :)

just found this link from the main site forum saying that there are 2 secret bands playing this year... could be interesting...

Who do we think they might be? First one that popped to mind with me was H & H being as it seemed so certain they would play then not, but as said before it would only be Friday and thats looking pretty full anyways, so who do we recon and where???

If there is going to be a couple of 'secret' bands added then Mastodon certainly tick all the boxes (i.e. in the country, can't be announced due to Sonisphere). Not sure who the other would be.

I'm still holding out for Valient Thorr as they're supporting Mastodon on their UK dates and have nothing booked for Download weekend. But there's no reason why they couldn't be announced and are hardly worthy of being 'secret', as awesome as they are.

I was ready to fob this off as B/S but it looks official to me. WHY MUST THEY KEEP DOING THIS!

The whole thing with secret bands comes about every year - some years it takes place, sometimes it doesn't. From my experience, it was Funeral For A Friend in 2005 (bit of a letdown), and in 2006, Down (one of the best bands of the weekend). So its a bit hit and miss.

However, its going to be someone who will draw a bit of interest, perhaps not a huge name, but well known nonetheless.

Heaven & Hell are exclusive to Sonisphere, so as much as I would love it to be them and AC/DC, I very much doubt it. I reckon Mastodon could be one though - after that leak in an e-mail, all rumours about them have gone quiet. They are in the UK a few days before though.

Not sure who could be the second one.

I wasn't around for Metallica in 2003 but agreed, that must've been a cracker.

I was thinking maybe Black Label Society too, as they've hinted at European festival dates, but as far as I'm aware, no confirmed dates.

I think it could be Mastodon for sure as one of them

The other could be Soulfly although I can't understand why they wouldn't announce it

Gallows maybe but I dunno I think them not playing is more down to them not being able to due to other dates that weekend rather than them playing Reading

It could be a Reading band, maybe Gaslight Anthem? that would be great!

"We can also reveal that The Misfits will also be coming over for another UK Jaunt in June. The only date announced thus far is at TJ’s in Newport on June 27th. Get tickets here and be sure to stay tuned to Metal Hammer for any further dates".

    • Same here, when the lineup dropped it looked very strong but this year I’m considering more whether I buy tickets for enjoyment or fomo.   Speaking of that dilemma, I caved and bought a Turnstile Piece Hall ticket so I’ll see you there 😂
