Had heard of Rock am Ring before but never really looked into it that much tbh, done T in the Park, Leeds and a few other festivals before, but never considered going to Europe for a festival. Came across details last week with a mate and decided it could be a belter weekend ... 1 week later there 4 of us on board, booked the tickets, put 2 weeks hols in at work, booked a return ferry crossing and bought a 1991 VW Caravelle for £450 !!

Road trip, can't wait !!

Its fine pal, was bought off a mate, got a bit of history with it as well. Gonna give it a bit of an overhaul before it goes on the road, hoefully next month i'd say so i'll be able to get a few miles done in it before hand.

Think it'll be wise to take some tools with me tho !!

well glastonbury is about 3 weeks after rar but I get your point. where did you hear this rumour? glasto has springsteen and blur but the third headliner could easily be the white stripes.

as for faith no more - i wouldn't be surprised if rar is a stop on their european tour...

I think we'll get an announcement in the next week or so.

What do you think the odds of ZZ Top playing are?

Just looking around, and they are in germany at the period, free on Friday and Sat according to tickets per post. They have a date in Leipzig on the 27th may, in Mainz on the 7th, and München on the 9th.

The dates fit in, fingers crossed?

Oh and the props for that go to Seb, the tall one amongst us last year, wearing a t-shirt with 'Serch' on the back!

The organizers don't want to book old bands. Even the Smashing Pumpkins are in retroperspective seen as too old. The odds of bands like Kiss or ZZ Top playing are very very slim. GnR may be an exception, however, and if possible they'd make one for AC/DC as well.

Hi guys,

I checked the first page of this blog, but It was not clear to me when the camping opens.

As I am going to Rock Am Ring from Rome, I would like to know if the camping opens on Wedsneday, Thursday or Friday morning.

Last year I went to Pinkpop and Werchter: the camping opened on the first day of the Festival and not before.

Can you help me out as I have to book the flight?

If the camping opens on Wedsneday, do you think it is too late arriving on Thursday afternoon to find space enough to put up a tent?

Thanks

Thank you both!!!!

Unfortunately I do not have so many day-off at work, DAMN IT!!!!

No problem to camp far away from the entry: last year I was in camp C at Pinkpop, it took us about 20-30 minutes to get to the Festival site every f**king day!!!!!

The worst part was to go back to the tent after the concerts pretty stoned and drunk :O

Just email us on [email protected] with any questions, and any new buses will be added to our transport page here.

Derm

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
