Well it's your opinion at the end of the day. But I personally think last year's was the weakest line-up Leeds has ever had, and this year made up for it. People say 2004 was bad but at least you had acts like Morrissey, Ash, The Offspring and Placebo in 2nd and 3rd slots, bands with decent sized back catalogues. Who did 2007 have in those band's positions? Arcade Fire, Interpol, Kings Of Leon and Lostprophets. Not saying any of those bands are bad but none of them were around in the 90s, they've all only recently got big.

2007 did have two really strong headliners in RHCP and the Pumpkins though. At the time of announcement I would have found 2004's choice of headliners pretty weak. Green Day, good, but they 2nd headlined 2001, dissapeared for a few years and then came back as headliners of the Sunday at Reading with no new material in between? The Darkness, bands with one album shouldn't headline. The White Stripes were a pretty weak choice for a band closing Leeds, and should have switched places with Morrissey. That said, I would have watched all three and probably enjoyed them all.

RHCP 4.5million apparently for those 2 dates last year - and they were crap!

Wasnt American idiot released in 2004? Ill just check for u , yes 2004 so they must have played some new material from it.

And u dont need any 1 from the 90s to be any good its 2008 , by the way NIN have been around since the 90s as well as 2 of the headliners.

It was released after they played Reading and Leeds. Certainly well after they were booked which must have been late 2003/early 2004.

And it makes the line-up look stronger if there's bands with extensive back-catalogues in 2nd and 3rd. Interpol, I like them, and they were pretty well-known but 3rd? And Arcade Fire, I feel MF slotted them in 2nd because they couldn't find anyone else. Then there was The Shins playing 6th on the Main Stage, a pretty unkown band especially compared to The Futureheads, The Subways and Less Than Jake who played 6th the previous year.

I agree they went very good , i see them years ago at 1 of the V festivals and they were amazing.

Until leeds last year they were 1 of my fav bands, but they just didnt seem to want to be there.

£4.5m should at least make u look intrested.

And for the other chap i thought all the 2nd headliners NIN,KOL and arcade fire were actualy better than the headliners.

Green Day , Arctic Moneys and ? for this year.

Yeah i had seen RHCP play their own show in Sheffield the year before and they were awesome thats what made me even more disappointed with the performance at leeds! To end 2 years of touring with that performance they should have been ashamed but 4.5 million must have helped them get over that! ;)

I will be disappointed if Arctic Monkeys arent at the festival next year!

Shins unknown? They really ain't man. Not massive, but big enough to play 6th from top, easily.

Arcade Fire are pretty massive as well.Selling out Alexandra Palace is no mean feat.

NIN have been going for two decades, hugely influential, massive tours, critical acclaim.A second from top slot is arguably underneath them.

Charlotte Hatherley is hardly unknown either, but she still played halfway down the Carling Stage in 2007. I wouldn't have even thought they'd be on Main Stage, let alone that high.

Arcade Fire did sell out Ally Pally, but after Reading and Leeds.

Never said NIN shouldn't have 2nd headlined, they were one of the few non-headlining bands that year who were in the right slot on the Main Stage.

Sold out the Astoria, around the same sized venue Futureheads,Subways,LTJ play ain't it? Admittedly, more of a 'cult' sort band, but a 6th from top spot is about right for them I'd say.

Arcade Fire are massive.I'm not their biggest fan,but they were definitely bigger at the time than Queens and Tenacious D have ever been. Neon Bible got to No.2 here.

A small UK fest? ? With RHCP, Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, KoL, Arcade Fire, Razorlight and Bloc Party? BAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

Seriously, it's laughable you even suggest that. It did just so happen that in 2007 alot of the older bands werent touring and they had to book some newer(ish) acts to fill the high slots, but every band there were worth the slot in terms of album sales and ticket sales.

It was a poor line up, not because the bands werent big enough, just cause they sucked.

I'm saying because of the positioning of the bands who would have been much lower a few years ago.

Sorry but the line-up looked really cheap and tacky that year. I still remember my heart sinking at the sheer w*nkness when I read the initial announcement.

If Arcade Fire are so huge then why have I never heard any of their songs?

Ignoring album sales, particularly in the first few weeks of release, as a lot of that is due to hype. Queens of the Stone Age are a vastly bigger band than Arcade Fire in terms of the number of people who know who they are and could recognise their songs.

Dear Santa, please may I have Guns N Roses, Green Day and AC/DC next year...oh and Less Than Jake on the main stage so I can actually see them this time!
