Aracde fire are great but disapointing last time they played - they dont translate as well to the mainstage and I dont believe they will headline next year.

To all those people who are saying Guns n roses NO CHANCE, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!! not after the shambles of last time, not to mention all their other disastors - they are to much of a liability.

I still think ACDC / Arctic Monkeys / Greenday or if not then Greenday / Arctic Monkeys / Oasis

Ignoring album sales, particularly in the first few weeks of release, as a lot of that is due to hype. Queens of the Stone Age are a vastly bigger band than Arcade Fire in terms of the number of people who know who they are and could recognise their songs.!

You talking at Reading or at large?

At Reading I'd have thought it would be even, with the vast majority knowing both, the population at large, Arcade fire by a fair old way.

Have you really not heard Wake Up, posted by Funkymp above??

The main thing is that Arcade Fire have released two critically acclaimed albumes in the past four years, QOTSA, havent released a decent one in 6. Ask people to name a song of one of their last two records and the vast majority would be stumped, i certainly couldnt off the top of my head, I could have named all on Rated R in order, at the time

I'm fairly sure the people you are talking about would be aged about 16-24. People in general, over the full range of ages and musical taste would know QOTSA a lot better. They appeal to indie, rock, pop and metal fans. The new album didn't do much over here, but Lullabies To Paralyze had Little Sister which was massive and also an awesome song.

You have to judge it on people in general rather than people that you know. A couple of critically acclaimed albums does not make a band bigger than one that has been consistently putting out good or great albums for 10 years. Bands like Oasis and Manic Street Preachers haven't released anything good for ages, but I would still argue that they are much bigger than Arcade Fire or any band that is popular now.

I would say the complete opposite. I'm 30 most people my age wouldn't have a clue who QOTSA are yet alone be able to recognise one of their songs, I'd say Arcade fire are far more likely to appeal to a wider age range than QUOTSA, they have a far wider mainstream appeal, while I'd say QOTSA are a proper niche rock band, who will be hugely popular within that niche but never sell many records, while Arcade Fire are a lot more universal and far more accesible

I couldnt tell you how Little Sister goes, I may recognise it if I hear it, I couldnt hum a note at the mo though.

*you tubes it*

I do know it, its ok

I think we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one!

I think Funeral is a quality album, especially Power Out, but I haven't heard anything else from AF so can't really comment. Saw AF support Franz Ferdinand in 05 and they were fantastic live!

QOTSA I kinda think as a singles band (my opinion!), i love their singles like No One Knows and Little Sister but I don't have that much interest and I found them boring this year at Leeds.

Like someone said they're completely different bands and couldn't possibly be compared, it's like saying who's better out of Iron Maiden and Oasis...a dead rubber of an argument!...personally it's Maiden though!

EDIT: Didnt AF play an arena tour to support their last album? Surely that says something about the size difference, QOTSA only played Academies etc last tour?

Queens are the opposite to a singles band dude.Strength lies in the depth of their albums. From what I heard,Queens weren't great this year at either Leeds or Reading(I was throwing up,so missed their set),but its out of character for them. They remain one of the best live bands I've ever seen, behind only Nine Inch Nails and Eagles Of Death Metal.

    • Muse will be about but the issue with Muse is that they’ll have the pick of doing IOW, BST, Glasto, R&L or big parks/stadiums.

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
