Red Rum Club at Liverpool Arena last night, sensational stuff. Quite surreal to see them at a big venue, given they play Academy size and smaller venues around the country. Now 4 albums in, every song lapped up by the crowd, incredible scenes. 3 support acts in The Ks, The Cheap Thrills and The Kairos, all good but I think first on, The Kairos were my favourite.

Not that I'm aware of.

Could be wrong, but I think there was always just speculation there was going to be a secret set because they sometimes had an early finish. I seem to remember talk of Daft Punk and Radiohead at different times. There was a story of the security telling people to leave because no-one was coming on but they wouldn't belive them.

The Red Rum Club at Liverpool Arena is finally upon us. There was a bit of debate on the size of the venue when this was announced, looks like it has sold pretty well tbf. This is now the 3rd act with Williams Green as location on their website. I don't think it's right as Mdou Moctar are on Park and Alvvays are on Woodsies on the poster. I guess they could play both but would be odd on the same day. All 3 are showing for 30th.

I think after balance deadline day, they become an option to buy separately. I also think you'll have to pay separate postage/booking fee, so it may be that it's cheaper to pay on the gate.

There's always a lot I have no idea about but there's been a decent number of guitar acts in amongst it all. Hopefully something that can still be catered for and they don't just end up all dance/electronic.

2016 was a poor line-up. Little to excite me on the first poster, though a few with a curiosity factor. Then when the time came out, the few on my list all seemed to clash with each other.

It's just getting tedious now. I almost wish they'd do it just so they don't keep banging on about it.

Raised over £1m without the festival contributing last year. Maybe a sign of declining popularity? Maybe a result of the cost of living? Or last year's draw being more of a novelty? I blame Car Henge.
