I heard quite the chat up line the other day.

One questions...beer pong? that like the old school computer game but with beer, or just a very smelly pint...

I'm confused at this ridiculously early hour (sometimes i hate my working hours)

My brother does that! It's really f*cking annoying!

Particularly on long car journeys when I put on an album specifically intending to listen to the whole thing, only to have him get impatient and skip to his favourite track on the album, then not listen to it all the way through and skip to another one. ;)

I've had to take measures to prevent this now - Whenever we go on a car journey, I make mix cds and don't tell him what's on them :P

I do that quite often. Unfortunately house parties I go to pretty much all consist of (the same) 6 couples, me, and my other single mate, and occasionally (the same) 2 single girls (who neither of us single guys want anything to do with)

The evening will usually start at around 8-8.30 and play out with the coupled up guys trying to proove they're as much fun as they used to be by doing/drinking something "wacky". Their partners will then take them to one side and tell them to stop it, which they will. The girls will spend the evening tutting and frowning, before the girlfriend of whoever's having most fun decides at around 10.30 that she's got a headache and they must leave IMEDIATELY (usually taking another couple with them to split the cab fare/get a lift) which signifys the winding down of the evening resulting in everyone leaving by around midnight.

In summary. I need new friends/my friends need new girlfriends.

Annoyingly I recently had a completely sober argument with one of my best mate's pissed fiance (who he's only known a year, has nothing in common with and has now been engaged to for 8 months - but that's a seperate moan - Succubus is all I'm going to say :P ) ;)

In my defence she tried playing the Ting Tings...

An explanation: 20 minutes before I was due to be leaving for a party round a friends house, my mate texted me and asked me to sort out music for the evening, which lead to an hours worth of sorting out a playlist on my ipod and trying to find some speakers... anyway, I put alot of stuff I wouldn't normally listen to (Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight etc.) that represented a wider range on the playlist to keep everyone happy.

Anyway a little way into the evening the girl declared "This is shit" and pulled her ipod out of her bag and stuck on the full Ting Tings album - THROUGH MY SPEAKERS :P I said I would allow one song, then it can go back. She got in a strop and said "who put you in charge of the music?!". So I said Mike (the guy who's house it was). She then tried to put on "Barbie Girl" at which point I walked across the room and pulled the speakers out of the Ipod, accidently causing it to drop 2 feet to the floor. She then got in more of a strop claiming "I threw it on the floor" I apologised for dropping it, and explained that the reason I'd got so annoyed is that I worked hard to put something for everyone on the playlist and that if she gave it time there would be songs on there she liked too. But she didn't want to hear a word of it.

Shortly after this her fiance walked in (he had been out of the room while all this was going on) at which point she shouted at him angrily "*Name* Adam threw my Ipod on the floor!" to which he responded "Did he apologise" and when she admitted I had he simply said that there was no problem. Ever since she began draining his life force about a year ago, I don't think I've ever seen him refuse to take her side in something. At which point she said spitefully to a girl she was sat near, "he'll pay for that" (refering to her bf, not me).

To recap. My friends need new/no girlfriends.

My word, that was a bit of a rant :D

I'm stealing that word. It's even better than 'arsebiscuits'.

    • My wife works for a music company, they have an allocation already.  They run a ballot for it early next year.
    • This is my guess too.    2028 festival breaks the £400 barrier.
    • Yeah I did spot that AXS had more available for the O2 shows Muse are doing, though I think that comes with the territory of AXS now being the venue's primary ticket selling platform.    My instinct remains they'll probably still play to a big crowd on the night - sales were similarly slow in 2023 but videos of those gigs showed the venue looking pretty much full. Equally it probably would be sold out if the pricing was even just slightly less ridiculous. Shave up to £50 off some of these categories and I think that would've got people to go with it.
    • Some are definitely already there with that and with another round of inflation looking like it's on the way, it certainly locks that in. And I say that as someone who also isn't willing to break the £100 marker.
