I have no information about this but I would love to be able to predict The Waterboys.

My only reason being that i cant think of a single band in the whole world who so perfectly fit the criteria for a Beautiful Days headliner.

And after both KT Tunstall and Gogol Bordello split the audience last year it would be great if a band was booked that would be such a crowd pleaser across the board. At Glastonbury last year the Waterboys played a number of times on various stages, I only saw the one on the Avalon stage and they were magnificent, as good as when i first saw them on the Pyramid stage in 86.

They're a perfect choice and I'm fairly bewildered as to why they havent been booked before...

I'd also love the waterboys to play

- Hard-Fi cause they are linked strongly with V this year so available on the friday - and did a set in the leftfield last year at Glasto(along with many other BD favs like neck and billy bragg, the beat, parma int, goldblade etc.) I know its a bit of a tall order but I thought they may like the BD vibe.

Only a guess though so probably not.

I'd like to argee with you but see my note below! :)

I wish I had seen The Waterboys on The Avalon Stage at Glasto like you then.

I was at The Pyramid for their Sunday lunchtime performance and quite frankly was not impressed. I'm sure TSU will agree with me as well. We was right down the front too.

They turned up late, Mike Scott didn't seem to care either and they did a "Please Themselves" set but didn't play any of their favourites! NOT what I was expecting.

Yes it would be great if The Waterboys were at Beautiful Days and would really suit the fest, however at the very least I'd be expecting a crowd pleasing set inc A Girl Called Johnny, Fisherman's Blues, Whole Of The Moon, Don't Bang The Drum...etc etc

Not the awful set that I had to witness at Glasto :)

yeah at the avalon when Mike put on his "stove pipe" hat I thought we're in for a good night and I wasn't disapointed.

Knowing my luck they will play the tent whilst Alabama 3 play the main stage - then I would be in a dilemma.

I hate to rub it in, but, at the Avalon stage set, they played all those songs!

Just for fun what are your predictions for this years main stage?

Not who you want necessarily but who you think will play.

One guess only for each night.

My guess's:-

Friday Hard-Fi

Saturday: Alabama 3 (Full Band)

Sunday: The Levellers (Of Course)

Actually I'd like Flogging Molly again please, but who would I have in the inspired Boney M slot - hmmm well without it being a coverband like Bjorn Again or The Fab Beatles it could be Chaz and Dave or errrmmm Bay City Rollers errrr The Nolans, or errr The Wurzels or Madness for a big sing along?

Still gnashing my teeth with frustation about not yet knowing whether or not I'll be able to come to BD this year. Bloody brother and his 50th birthday mini-festival, it'll be cool, but I want it to be when I can make, he's threatening August ... only the 1st weekend is properly available for us that month! And he won't commit to a date ..

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
