Rock Werchter 2027

So the best headliner acts I´ve seen during the past 5 years are Radiohead, System of Down, Nick Cave and Blur. So I´m hoping for those 4 as headliners. Not even remotely possible but one can still dream;)

I think if they were all about the same year you could get 3 of those though, probably more so Radiohead or Blur then the others. SOAD would be the ultimate booking but Graspop could easily grab them too. That Aus tour is early enough to have a South American or similar leading upto April time which primes them for early Europe if they choose it and RAR will go for them and have had them 3 times previously. None of the other German festivals I doubt will be able to match them financially. Long way to go before that though

After attending Mad Cool for the first time this year and loving it I am back on this forum. 2027 I want to do Rock Werchter for the first time that’s my aim.

Honestly rn I’m hoping for a few names :

Muse

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Radiohead ( unlikely )

Fontaines DC

Sam Fender ( I get his poor history with this festival )

and a side one that I would want to have a slot is The Royston Club , I just fall in love with the more and more everyday.

I definitely see Muse, RHCP in the pool.

My current guess would be in no order:

Florence with a co-headline, Muse, RHCP, Blink 182.

Not enough for me yet to suggest SOAD, PJ or Foos. Foos just don't have heavy quick return history with the festival. In fairness if they play RAR which I expect they may even be. Gone by then

The national have just announced their first shows since 2024.

I could see them and Tame Impala sharing a night, both very much overdue at RW.

I'd have said closer to sub for both. Tame Impala was a barn headliner last time. I think there well be too many established options about.

Also on this, it's a long time with the national not to be booked being 13 years so far if they have interest in doing so for an undercard band too.

I think they'll do live is live, they get a longer set 2 hours last time and 1hr 40 before which they wouldn't at Werchter. I imagine they would want that longer set, similar to why Nick Cave hasn't been back since 2018. His own tours are regularly 2-2.5 hours and live is live gave him that. The likes of The Cure will get your 2hrs 20. I personally think QOTSA have a chance of being the co-headline with Florence.

I could see The National getting 1 hr 30 at RW. Simple Minds got that much as a sub-headliner in 2025, and that was before Green Day who  played for 2 hrs 20 mins.

Yeah it's not a case of they wouldn't have them but the band would get offered a longer slot and headline elsewhere. In fairness too, Simple Minds did the sportspalais in both 22 and 24 which isn't something The National do and I'm fairly surely they aren't as big as them either.

I don't know many bands that would choose to go from headlining an event to subbing another in the same country. It was only back in 2019 that they were only second stage headliner at pukkelpop. They have made 8 appearances of note since their last Werchter show at 2 different festivals twice, a werchter classic show and their own shows that were not the biggest venues there, overall small than Fender I believe which overall is quite telling. In 2024 as well, live is live had Duran Duran and a co-headline from Paulo Nutini and Editors too.....the former of which played 4th down the Werchter mainstage the year before and the latter only got barn headliner so around 3rd down and they are big favourites there.
