Really? I'm not sure we're looking at the same poster here. I guess it depends on your definition of new (I'm old, so the Snuts and Royston Club are still "new" to me).

Take a listen to some of the bands below the "logo" line, there's at least a dozen great small indie bands that have only just appeared in the last year or two there.

I just see so many old bands especially up high in the line up. All of them maybe. Lower down. Sure there are newer smaller artists. I have been through them all and they are quite commercial vanilla indie. Point out a good new alternative indie band that will surprise me please.

Thanks for all the replies back in December. To be honest, I’d completely forgotten that I’d posted here asking for info about the festival, until a friend and I were sitting around drinking beer and talking about the upcoming festival season this past Friday, and she said, “Didn’t you ask a bunch of questions on some forum? What did you get in response?” Hahaha. Anyway, the tickets are sold out and we haven’t bought any. So now we’re looking into some other options.
Maybe we’ll visit Ynot another year. But anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, and sorry for not thanking you until almost four months later.

Fantastic for me and my mates, Lilacs, Clause, Snuts, Kid Kapichi, Dea Matrona  Rosadocs, Enemy. Sorted for large parts of the day

Good point there, The Enemy will clash with TDCC so me having The Enemy at Y Not over Kendall doesn't help anyway.

First time at this festival. Bringing the whole family so I’m not that Bothered by the huge amount of vanilla British commercial indie music like the reytons whom I’d never heard of. I’ve been though most of the bands, lost track a little, but struggling to find any that fall under the indie grunge punk style. Any recommendations please. Basically for me if it wasnt for the Streets it would have been a disaster me. Been listen to them for 25 years. I assume there will be lots of clashes. Radio Free Alice stands out. Love ash and we are scientists. Don’t mind TDCC. You have all the big bands that have not done anything new for ages. So looking at the smaller bands. Keo seem ok but clash likely. And pale waves. Need some suggestions.  I’m a 90s grunge kid. Ta

Could be the wrong festival, it's perfect for my indie landfill tastes. You'd be better off at Bearded Theory, that's been taken over by shouty grunge punk... have you tried Bilk, they're on the Giant Squid.

Enemy against Two Door seems harsh on the former.

Tbh it was known that clash was happening when The Enemy were announced. It would have to be The Enemy but its a clash why Y Not wouldn't win over Kendal for me. I can't see The Enemy there but I would want to see both.

Yeah, But I am taking the entire family, first festival, so it needs to be relatively easy listening

I was really looking forward Radio Free Alice and was concerned about their clash, but its with the Reytons, so that's great news. Gutted Ash and the Libertines are on Thursday. No doubt I';; hear some great new stuff

tbh, Bearded Theory is the most family friendly festival, other than Shambala, that I've ever been to. It's the first one I've missed since 2015. Last year at Y Not was the most family orientated it's been.

Have you tried Kid Kapichi?

Yeah I have, I like the bands around Raised by Owls, with some quality thrash sandwiched in. It will be fine

I do need to decide Two Door Vs The Inspirals. Shame We are Scientists, which I have seen loads, are the same time as the Streets but I'm not missing the Streets and The scissor sisters or Keo. Scissors as they are just on before the Streets,  and Radio Free Alice is nailed on

I'm not going to Y Not, but just spotted this on social media and wanted to flag for those of you who are. Dubtendo are mint if you like dance music or video games, particularly so if you like both. A dedicated stage for them all weekend is a genuinely brilliant addition IMHO.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
