not got Thursday tickets so arriving Friday, what's the likelihood of getting a decent tent pitch then , would be there first thing

There was plenty of space still on Friday in Haye Parks and the quiet area, I don't know about Family and Great Holmes, they looked a bit fuller on Thursday night, but maybe you could slip in somewhere... I've never actually seen the Shire, so no idea there, but I can't imagine it was full.

If you're early on Friday pretty sure you'll be fine. Might need to look around a bit but sure you'll get a decent spot

I think it depends what you see as a decent spot. If it's right by the arena among the party, probably not, but nowhere is that long a walk away. 

Also, are you driving or coming on the shuttle bus?
