Hi,  

We've been twice and going to this one.  Loved the first visit and bought tickets on day of release for last year and this.

It's very small. I have seen 1500 capacity mentioned. That means food stalls are limited too but theres a cafe in the castle during the day and pubs walkable in the nearby village. Good festival bar.

Theres a dj area but usually only one music stage so no band clashes. Good news is the main stage is a big barn so that bits undercover.  Audience are music folks so never seen any lairy behaviour that i can think of.

Campsite is small, on a little bit of a hill but only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of the festival. Hot showers.

Ticket includes access to the castle and sizeable lovely grounds, decent for a wander. There are usually authors doing (music) book readings/signings in the castle from mid morning til the bands start just after lunchtime.

Plenty of other extracurricular things like dog shows and birds of prey! 

Hope that gives a flavour. Oh yes, might be last one for a year or more.

First timer last year. Loved it. The line-up was really good, plenty of space on the campsite and a short walk to the carparks. The sound at the main stage was excellent, to be expected though with it being Sea Power. Good bars and fairly priced, food options were lacking though. It's only small but there was a good mix of people, everyone was friendly and it was a nice vibe. 

 

Nice to have a walk around Muncaster Castle grounds and listen to some of the talks which are held there. There's organized walks going in the surrounding area too.

 

Only negative was the weather. Nice(ish) on the Thursday when we arrived but that night was wild - torrential rain and howling wind. Quite a few with families were packing up on the Friday morning.

 

Worth the money in my opinion.

I echo the comments above. Really looking forward to it this year. There's also a silo full of hay bales that you can chill out in. Did the guided walk down the river esk last year and that was good and interesting apart from sh*t loads of mud and people and dogs getting stung by wasps. Food was a bit of a let down once the lad who was selling cheese on toast vanished after a couple of days. John Doran's talk and his DJ set were both top. Overall a really good place to be for a few days.

Had an eye on this for a couple of years and we’ve booked this one. Really looking forward to it. We’ll have a 7yo with us. Is there plenty for kids to do?

For a small festival it seems to pull it's weight in that regard as far as I can see. Daily events in the barn area (near main stage) and loads of play areas and room to roam in the Castle grounds as well as bird of prey displays etc. I think theres a family friendly guided walk too usually and the Lil' Ratty mini steam train nearby.

I'm jealous, it looks like a great festival. We saw Sea Power supported by White Magic For Lovers last night. They were both superb.

Had a wonderful time again. Good crowd, well put together lineup, extra activities were spot on. Incremental improvements with a small second stage. Sunshine!

Acts i'd not seen before and enjoyed included Sister John, White Magic for Lovers, La Sécurité, Gnod and Richard Dawson.

Great to see Jane Weaver, Throwing Muses, a frenetic Moonlandingz set, Lovely Eggs and Dean Wareham again.

Shame it's not on next year.

Looked like a great weekend. Just seen that Sea Power and John Robb/Louder Than War are putting together a one day city festival in Manchester early next year

We had a really good time. What a fantastic little festival. The walk down to the beach with the knotted project was lovely. Our daughter loved it. She went to all the “kids club’ meetings and had a great time performing in front of the Modern Ovens. (A Jonathan Richman tribute band. Containing members of sea power)

The line up and setting was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. I’ll definitely be going again. I think I I’ve found my new favourite festival!!

After wanting to go to this festival for years, but Green Man always getting in the way, we've just decided to take the plunge for 26. 

 

Lineup looks good and finally got a chance to see Stewart Lee again, having missed him at both Bearded Theory and Green Man - twice! 

 

Are we due more acts to be announced or is that pretty much it?

I reckon we'll get a few more acts announced but it's a good lineup anyway as you say. It's a lovely festival. Really looking forward to it.

The April announcement said "more to come" but I don't think there'll be loads of additions.
