The signs usually go up saying it’s a building site may bank holiday weekend before that the public footpaths are open

End of may or beginning of may weekend Crazy?

As others said the build starts first day after May bank holiday.

The actual "securing the site" I think is from the Saturday before the festival when Oxfam early shift start stewarding the gates.

So between those two dates it slowly gets stricter and your chances of being asked to leave by security increases.

In theory I don't think there's any access to the public except the footpath that skirts the park, dairy ground and up to Gate A which gets suspended early May.  Obviously people do go on dog walks etc round there. The closer it is to June the higher the chance you're not going to be allowed.

So what's the chances of just waltzing in the week before oxfam turn up amd camping in the trees?

Absolutely zero.

I don't agree that the site can only be considered secure from the Saturday before. Saturday is the first day of the big rush of arrivals, and so is when the gates go into full operational mode, but the site has already been fully enclosed by the fence for a few weeks prior to that (with most gates locked shut) and the few gates that are open do have security on them.

    • This basically!, it's about as clear as day they'll be there.
    • Yeah there is no down time, I'm still tired and over thinking from last weeks work. A big reality check this week. If you just do it for the money you always will.

    • Robbie Williams would fit with the current state of the legend’s slot, and he’d bring the house down.
