Weekend but not camping

Between 2005 and 2011, I did Reading with a hotel every year. I was 39 at my last one... when you're still going but fewer of your friends are, it's a very nice way to do it. 🙂

(I camped from 1997-2004)

Top tip... some of the hotels take a while to bump their prices up, if you get in quick for the following year! My best ever was four nights in the Ibis at £35 per night...

Hello, I've not been to Reading before and just have a day ticket without camping for the Sunday.  Any advice on staying nearby (hotel/camping) or potential to get back to train station in time to head back into London?  Thanks

haha, I did exact same as you camped from 97 to 04 but that was enough. 04 was so shite it nearly ended it for me, have hotel’d every year since bar one in an Air BNB.

Hard to get decent prices these days, even from the off, the hotels are wise to it and price it in. Got the Malmaison this year with which was the same price as the Ibis at time of booking

Many people head back on the Sunday so you may still be able to get a hotel. Look at the usual suspects. Anywhere 5 mins walk from the station will be decent for the festival

I camped 17 years in a row 1999-2015 then binned it off at the age of 34!

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
