The EE twitter account is running a comp where you have to guess the location of buried tickets. Proper needle in a haystack but worth a shout.

Looking at that EE competition - definitely worth reading the T+C carefully, there's some stuff in there that'll catch people out especially regarding the various valid times of entry.

Also specific about not tweeting from multiple accounts (which I do), and there only being 24 hours again to respond. Decent. On top of this, you don't need to Retweet to take part, so it doesn't have that extra reach.

Also from people's responses, they obviously haven't read the T&Cs because none of them are including the hashtag (annoyingly EE are painstakingly correcting them all)

Simple! Every day this week, starting at midday, with the cut off point 9am the next morning
Think they announce winners daily as well, so less tense waiting. Today, I imagine, is the best day to do it, as it'll only gain momentum through the week

Yep. Very rough estimate (someone else can count the squares if they want!) says that if you use all three chances, you've got a 1/90 chance of hitting the right spot and even being entered into the draw. If there's two of you, 1/45 chance of hitting the right square, or 1/90 chance of getting the square and double chance in the draw. 

Advise against picking multiples of 7 as the number part of your square!

I don't think he is going this year. We've helped each other out in the past and he kindly offered to help me in the resale this year, but I'm pretty sure he isn't heading there himself.

Not to do with the likelihood of the square containing a 7, that's the same, but as 7 is a lucky number for many people, it's a reasonable assumption that a lot of people will choose squares featuring a multiple of 7 as the number, so increasing the number of people in the draw if it is that square, and reducing your odds.

Of course what had happened was that several multiples of 7 had been drawn, so an enormous number of people matched 4 or 5 numbers, eating into the jackpot. 

Edit: Torygraph link about the story. Wasn't even a few hundred...if you matched 5 numbers you got £15. You'd have won more if you got only 3 or 4 numbers!

good point. My birthday is the 7th so I'm usually drawn towards that!

Yep 3 entries per person per day, but no doubling up on accounts for a single person. I.e. you and 5 mates can all enter 3 times each day from separate accounts (18 entries total), but you can't create/use more than one twitter account per person to enter. 
They might not find out of course, risks and that

Given that entries are effectively public..

Wouldn't it be possible towards the end of each window, to do a statistical analysis of how many valid entries have been put in for each square, and then put in a last minute entry on ones that have the fewest?

That's definitely a 'good' strategy...in terms of it being possible though? If you can get all the info off of twitter, with their annoying way of displaying replies, then yeah you could simply count em up and work out the best ones to go for. If you managed to set something up to monitor the replies, you'd be golden. I'm absolutely useless at anything like that though, so I'd be looking at a data entry jobbo...which would take forever. 
Having said that, most entries are likely to be made before 1am you would have thought, so if you've got some time to spare in the dead of night...

Another thought, is that unless you did manage to find a way of collecting the information as efficiently as possible, the gain from your efforts would probably not be enough to offset the cost, given you still have the same 1/90 in hitting the right block. 

Another another thought-they're using a hashtag for it, so it might actually be not too difficult to gather the information. You'd probably end up with a number of ineligible entries, but as tweets will be in the thousands, it hopefully shouldn't have an enormous impact on the results you're trying to get.

I'm sure you can find a cafe or something with a hotspot! Find your nearest Starbucks aha. Or if you're near a coach stop, hang around there and nick their wifi for the 2 minutes it takes.

thought there were few enough entries to tally chart it by hand. Nope. Do not recommend.

A good thing with Twitter is you can tweet with a text message and set up txt alerts for any direct message if you get lucky. If you 'buddy up' with the person you are going with you can cover 6 squares per day ....... Or look for iconic parts of the map.... Work out where the pyramid stage is or the farm house
