Kids coming in just for one day?

Going to Glastonbury for 3rd year running again this year and as a sweetener to the wife while I am away for 5 days with the lads I book her and the kids in to a holiday place and this year it's Butlins in Minehead. Eldest daughter is 10 and loves Jess Glynne, Ellie Goulding and Adele. 

Is it feasible that on the Saturday or Sunday the wife could drop her off with me for a few hours so I can show her Glastonbury, the kids field, stone circle etc. and then the wife could pick her up later and they can go back? It says kids don't need a ticket, they just need to be accompanied with an adult but not sure if that is at the point of first entry, when you get your wrist band and they give the kids one also?

That would be fine. Kids under 13 don't get a wristband, they just need to be with a ticket holding adult. You'd need to use the pick up point at the Bath & West showground, as your rendezvous point.

Is there a bus service to there and back and does it run throughout the festival, not just start and end?

EDIT: found it: The drop and collect will be open for the public from 12.01am on Wed onwards and remains open until 1800 hours on Monday eve.

Bath and West show ground or Castle Cary station would be places to meet your daughter but a hassle to get to.There is a layby for taxis near Gate A. If it was me I'd get your daughter dropped off there or on that road. You would have to be quick though, the police or festival security won't be happy if they catch you. If she stays for Adele, it will be after midnight before you left the festival unless she stays overnight.

Yeah, you'll need to make sure she's thoroughly worn out before she leaves, or it'll all kick off!  

there's a shuttle bus that goes back and forth from gate A. One tip, though: if you're just picking up or dropping off, ask the driver if they can hang on a few minutes, so you can get back to the fest quickly. We failed to do so last year, and ended up waiting over an hour for a bus back (and missed Burt Bacharach as a result!)

Our kids came with us from the Wednesday to the Friday last year, we caught the bus from the festival to the bath and west showground where my parents picked them up from us and then we caught the bus back into the festival, it was so easy and quick we are going to do it again this year.

Mine are joining me sat onwards. Did it last year but was at worthy view and got permission to have them dropped to that car park. Cant really see why taxi drop off would be an issue really after fri but will probably arrange showground to avoid hassle. 

Though last yr people were mentioning the pub along the road as a potential drop off - has it re-opened?

You get the best of both worlds then, family time at the start of the festival and adult time the rest. Perks of living close..

We do this too but out son goes home on the Sat.  Year before last getting through the mud up by JP - ooofffff!
