Site Map/Getting About

Hi, first time at KC but Festival veteran, but taking the wife for her first proper full on camping experience. Couple of questions, 1; is there a site map you can download before the festival opens as we are traveling with friends from Shropshire and we all want to camp together but if we get split up on route we will know where to meet up (we are camping in the Emperors Field). 2. Does anyone know at what point the camping fields start to cramp up, we are due to arrive around 12:00 on the Thursday, and again want to set up camp with our friends but in a quiet part.

Cheers

JR

Hi JR, 2 options (although I think you arrival time will mean you'll prob be fine...) if you're coming from south then there is the crown pub in Shap, just meet there and then drive in convoy or when you park and enter the Emperors just turn left uphill as that bit doesn't get fuller until later/ Friday

The thursday tickets were limited so there's no way the emperors field will be overly full by lunchtime thursday. You'll find a spot together fine

Cheers, thought as much but you never know. do you know if they send out a site map etc with stages and where things are? Also tried to find if anyone had a sniff of more detailed line up's?

You probably won't get a much more detailed line up till you buy a lanyard on day 1 ! Info's been scarce the last few years, I used to attempt a clashfinder years ago but don't even consider it now.

Sure they'll put out a map in the next couple of weeks, they usually do. Wherever you are on site it's usually well signposted and the stages are minutes walk from each other. It's a well layer out compact venue, unless they've adjusted it for the increased crowd !

Main issue they have is the space in front of the main stage, if they moved it forward 100yards to where the sound deck is now and turned it to face the other way albeit more angles inwards then would make a major difference.

I did wonder that, but it would take a radical rethink of both the Woodland area, and the Calling Out stage due to sound bleed - isnt there also a row of trees behind where the main stage is?  (kinda where the bar and something else (helpful I know...) was last year - to your left as you walked towards the woodlands.

Also think they need to do something different with camping - having Family Camping so far from the car park and entrance really wasnt ideal!

Wont affect us this year, first festival in our new caravan (although gonna be honest - my tent is bigger.....!)

I'm guessing that they would've needed to map all this out in the planning application which should be available for public viewing but I may be wrong? Anyone the wiser?

The only one I was able to find was a map from a few years ago - which ended up changing lots.  The eden council website isnt the easiest to navigate though!

One of the things the acts on stage and people I know mention is the beautiful setting, and I think the trees and hill of the main stage adds to this. I think if it was opened out it may lose some of that. Can it just be moved backwards a bit?

I think and it's just a thought the mainstage will have to be in a different angle this year , take Saturday night for instance with elbow , under the old site lay out given the increase in size which is around 4000 it just wouldn't work , the calling out stage hasn't got a majorly big headliner to take folk away to watch something else ! I will be any where but the mainstage I don't fancy the dreary arsed Manc band at all ! Things will defo be on the move they will need to know how it will all work ......... They have the potential to add another 10k in yet !

    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
    • Excellent new release from overpass today - well worth checking out.
    • Having lived here for 2 and a half years now my take is that security, safety and organisation are just not a priority in Spain. It's not even exclusive to festivals. It's a part of everything.   Simple example. I'm Irish and in Ireland if you assemble a construction site you have to adhere to a lot of regulations about cordoning off the site so nobody can enter and get injured. Here, you're walking down the foot path and suddenly without any warning you're in a construction site. If not, you'll suddenly find yourself directed onto the road to get around the construction.   Life is more laid back here in general. Pros and cons.
