Thanks mate sintra looks awesome I didn't know about it, just need to figure out the trains there now. I'd seen some stuff on tripadvisor (walking tours etc) but not that as its out of lisbon. Thanks very much

sweet mate keep the recommendations coming! Like I said me and my Mrs are there for a week so gonna check some of Lisbon out. Plan on doing the cultural stuff (e.g monastery and maybe a walking tour) on wednesday or Tuesday as well as a couple of nights out on top of the festival. Awful, awful line up but it's happening now so let's do it

What's the festival like for serving alcohol to people underage? (16 but look 17/18) Also what are the pubs/clubs like around the area for the same thing?

I don't think anyone here is gonna give you any solid information so all I can say is just try it at the bars. Pubs/Clubs are probably less likely but Europe is generally more relaxed. Worst that can happen is they say no, and the atmosphere will be good enough that you won't need alcohol anyway - if you wanted a piss up you could've gone to Magaluf or Zante

You'll be fine at the festival and around the Barrio Alto (main drinking area in Lisbon, lots of pubs) but the clubs can be pretty strict from my experience last year.

 

The clubs were rubbish anyway, you'll have more fun hanging around the Barrio Alto.

Note ... The KFC only sells crisps - not fries !!! Tbh last year I grabbed a kebab a few times, decent quality and about €4 a go. KFC I had was poor and the burger my missus had was shit !!!

Caught some quality warm up sets from Glasto on the box this weekend.  Chet Faker, Future Islands, Young fathers, Django, Alt-J and Jessie Ware were all top notch i thought and still available to watch on iplayer.  Also been listening to these lot last couple of days....

 

 

Not for me that mate! I'll vouch for django django though they're brilliant. Saw on facebook that they had a powercut so couldn't finish their set but I haven't seen their glasto sset yet. My mates tell me future islands are good, gonna try and give young fathers a whirl as well but need the set times

When I first listened to Young Fathers I thought this is really really shit, but it's grown on me so much in such a short space of time, I can't stop listening to their album. Really really infectious, proper crept up on me. I don't remember the last time a band did that to me.

Had the same effect on me, been listening to them for about two months now. Their previous albums are works of genuis too, one of the best bands to come from uk for sometime i think.

Contacted the official twitter yesterday regarding getting our wristbands at the airport as mentioned on here. Got this reply:

Sounds ideal to me    It was mid 30s at Coachella last year and that was suprisingly ok to deal with.  NOS doesnt get started till 5pm everyday so will be cooling down a lot by the time it proper gets going each day.

 

Anyone know if they have lockers at the festival?

Grab those 1 pound pouches from pound stretcher mate (similar to capri suns but bigger), fill them with rum and put them round your gooch area when you go in. No one feels the gooch area when checking and it fits nicely between your legs. I think 1 security guy might have brushed the bottle cap on my way into benicassim once but he just looked awkward, I think he just thought I had a boner and he'd touched it

 

That and/or time it right - if you walk up in broad daylight with 750ml of rum dangling between your balls it might look obvious, plus they may check more rigorously when there are less people trying to get in. Go later on when it's darker and 1. visibility is poorer and 2. more people are trying to get in so they are more likely to usher people thru

 

That's my previous festival experience anyway! Never been to NOS alive so maybe they're different. I don't go to any gigs anymore without taking some of my own rum or vodka in these days. Too easy not to and save a fortune

Nice one, looks a good set up  that answers my question about the lockers then - none to be seen on the map. These were useful at Coachella when the temps dropped at night, you could store a jumper/top, jeans etc to put on as it got chilly later on.   Not sure if NOS will be warm enough for shorts/t-shirt till the early hours, the last sets based on last year look be around 3-4am. Anyone know from previous visits?

 

As for the Rum. never leave home without it ;-)

 

We fly out this Sunday, few days in Lisbon to acclimatise first, proper giddy now.
