mrtourette
Friend of mine said they stopped letting people anywhere near the NME? That's not the same as closing the arena. They restricted access into the NME tent, it was planned that way and they'd be happy doing it again if required. Yellow_Fellow
Fuck's sake NME. The secret act is not, necessarily, arena sized. It's just someone that they had in the "safety net".XFM: Do you have like, a safety net, in case people are ill? Do you have like a safety list of people who are in the country, are available? Jon: We always get calls about a month before the festival from bands saying: 'You know how we said we didn’t want to play your festival, well now we're available and we really do." And I've had about 7 of those this year. And a couple of those are arena bands who wants to do secret shows or last minute things. So. No problem filling up the program. XFM: This year, are any of those people who got in touch with you now playing it? Jon: No not yet. But one of them will. XFM: Okay? But you can't tell us who that is. Jon: No, it's going to be a surprise. EDIT: also, he can't pronounce Die Antwoord or describe how they sound Edited August 10, 2014 by Yellow_Fellow
dentalplan
I only just found out how to pronounce it. Interesting that they've loads of replacements but when Crosses pulled out they just moved everyone up and put Lyger in at the foot of the bill.

Maybe non of the replacements they have would have been suitable for that stage?
dentalplan
Maybe non of the replacements they have would have been suitable for that stage? Okay then. Interesting that they always have loads of replacements but when The Pretty Reckless pulled out last year they didn't even replace them. the wonderwhy
None of the acts lined up as replacements like playing outdoors, is the correct answer.

rawaudioinput
Possible, although it'd be disappointing for all involved
Yellow_Fellow
Tourette did point this out By virtue of ill definition of "arena sized" - turns out that may have nothing to do with the act at all though.
#FreeComTruise
By virtue of ill definition of "arena sized" - turns out that may have nothing to do with the act at all though. Not that, by the fact that the NME article quoted them as asking about any of the acts in general, not just arena-sized ones, so yeah, it could basically just be anyone

kemosabe
If they played from just there first two albums it would be a good secret set. Unfourtunatly they wont.

They did bar about 2 songs at the Glasto secret set. It was pleasantly nostalgic, surprisingly. I reckon it'll be TDCC though
mattgimmeshelter
If it's TDCC Reading might do the whole "you loved them last year" we've got them back! SUBBING!
dentalplan
When have R+L ever announced an act as 'SUBBING!'? Edited August 11, 2014 by dentalplan
#FreeComTruise
And why would it be a shock for Two Door to get booked as subs next year, seems pretty plausible to me
mattgimmeshelter
When have R+L ever announced an act as 'SUBBING!'? Okay then mr technical. What they said about Jake Bugg then something like "rightful place on the mainstage".

mattgimmeshelter
That'd be true and not a shock as Com says. Thing is, subs tend to pull headliner sized crowds and I can't imagine a massive crowd to TDCC.
