It all depends on what they were looking for then....and now. Talk suggests that the 'new' material is or was largely instrumental and was possibly left out of the Division Bell core material because it didn't fit with the lyrical theme of much of the album. Perhaps with time that material has now matured and it's felt the time is right to issue it as a far less complex paean to Wright's work, and perhaps even as an epitaph or epilogue to 40 years of the band's work as a whole.

We shall see.
