I get personalised flags to one extent but why oh why do people bring `sponsered flags` into these things? I lost count of the amount of flags with an advert on them for some brand without anything personalised at all on there.....I mean are these people paid for free advertising? or do they just who want a flag and dont care what it says on it?

Have to admit I am a flag knobhead (or we as a group are for the last two years) I also admit to seeing the flag on TV after and going thats our flag when at a TV venue. It is also a great focal point to meet wherever you are on site and the leader has the flag so follow it when away from the TV stages or generally around the site.

The clue was in the bit in bold. So your view isn't blocked by these as you are near the front?

Yes, you are right. We would miss them if they were gone. Instead we'd have to make do with seeing the acts we've paid the privilege to view.

Like I said earlier, the pro-flag folks are either on a wind up in this thread or they simply do not get it, or they get it and don't give a stuff as they may see their flag on TV.

Funniest moment of the weekend flagwise for me was the guy who had the idiocy to erect a flag promoting `armed forces day`...

...Well that and the `flag` battle while waiting for start of metallica, anyone else here see that? 2 flag holders trying to take each others flags out with the crowd cheering them on? comedy moment

Then after that 5 seconds giggle they got to enjoy the flag for an hour rather than seeing what they came to see.

You're going a bit far on this devil's advocate thing. after all someone turning up with a ghetto blaster screaming out Ice Ice Baby would be a bit of a giggle. You'd not be happy if it lasted for an hour

The thread doesn't bore me at all Frosty...Quite the opposite...I'm entitled to an opinion... no?

BTW...Don't take yourself so serious...Life's too short....It's a few flags mate...hardly life or death when you think about it.

Then don't imply it does then with comments like that, or you'll get comments like that *shrug* ain't rocket science

If I piss in your face it's hardly life or death either. That's a silly facile argument. I'm not sure my one calm and not even capitalised sentence really warrants accusing me of taking myself so seriously - but cheers for the life advice eh ;)

Such liberty requires responsibility though, not just doing whatever the hell you want. Hence the thread. Never heard anyone complain they couldn't see the stage for the entire set because of flares mind, tho don't let that damage your comparison at all. Of course it all feels like double standards if you don't think through the issues. A vs B means nothing without knowing what A and B are

So as you say cut slack - noone complains about things on sticks, just big flags. The slack has been cut - all this has been done, many times over. Have a read, I think you'll find folk have been pretty reasonable

    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
