Glasto Virgin Camping Q's

Evening all,

I'll be attending my first ever Glastonbury with my girlfriend and we are hugely excited :D .

I've got years of festival experience (Leeds Fest, V and Benicassim) but I know Glasto is a different beast entirely!

I know this info is somewhere on thread's everywhere but I'm still trying to get my head round the best place to camp for us - we want to experience as much as we can and enjoy everything on offer but we're not going to be partying hard all night and we want to be able to sleep!

With this in mind, can someone please tell us the camps we should definitely avoid? e.g Ox, Kidney and Raw?

We'll be arriving from the North hopefully by about 2pm on Wednesday, I was thinking either Dairy, Rivermead, Bushy or Plaines might be an option? I notice this is on the West of the site, is it easy to figure out how to get the right car parks (in this case Pink?) from outside the fest or are you just directed to the emptiest car park?

And do we really get a free programme!?

Thanks to everyone that's posted in this forum, been a massive help, as has the excellent Tort's guide.

EXCITED!! :sarcastic:

Yes free program isn't it crazy you don't always get that

Your choices in campsite seem fine just avoid Pennards as it's always super cramped. They're all much of a muchness now just pick further out and less crowded if you want more peace

If you are fit and healthy then camp wherever, north-west side is a good shout. First few times I camped well away from the action and it was so good for discovering the place, got lost so much and found some amazing things I never would have seen if I had pitched up by the railway track.

Morning

First time....how exciting! I remember my first one, although i had trawled Youtube, images etc, it still didn't preapre me for the awesome spectacle that is Glastonbury.

Theres so many lovely camp spots; we used to head for Dairy as although it was a bit of a trek after late/all night shinnanegans down Shangri La etc, it was lovely and quiet and you could get some shut eye...before the sun is properly up and you boil in your sleeping bag:)

However, as you know, Arcadia has moved this year, over to an area close to Dairy so i doubt it will be the peaceful haven that it once was. We have a camper this year and staying at a farm just off site so will have a new expereince:)

My advice would be camp away from any late night area or anything really low lying (next to the railway line) or under the pylons as the cracking and fizzing above gets on yer tits.

have a great time:)

Angie

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
