walking around outside

shortest way would be to follow the metal road way outside the fence that the security vehicles use....unless you can blag a lift it's probably not best to try and use that route...

easiest other way would be to walk up the A361 towards Pilton village (the main road through the village will still be open on Tuesday) and then turn right at the top of the hill down Parson's Batch towards the church...then follow the lane through the village and turn right down Pylle Road....follow that past the football field on your right and then turn right again down Cockmill Lane. Go straight past the entrance to Gate B on your right and keep heading down until you get to Gate C and the 'Hill of Death' on your left which goes up to East campervans.

You might get stopped and challenged when you attempt to go through the village but as long as you have your ticket with you and explain nicely you should be ok.

You will defo be able to get were you need to go, just ask the stewards when you arrive and ask a few different stewards to make sure there directions are correct. If glastonbury are letting campers arrive Tuesday they must of accounted for people arriving on other transport and needing access to various areas. Good luck.

I read something on a different forum earlier because I was trying to find out an answer about the gates. The forum isn't one I use and I'm guessing it's not allowed to link to another forum site :P But it sounds like they don't like people walking around the outside, mainly due to the lack of footpaths and the traffic control in place, plus the huge volume of cars around.

I couldn't tell you for sure though. It might be worth asking the festival office or just waiting till you're at the gate and asking stewards.

Mind you, given the distance, I would've thought it would take about the same length of time with less hassle to walk through the festival site and out of gate C?

Didn't think this would be easy one!

Its not for me, but for my son and his friends.

I though they could get dropped at Bath & west and festival bus to gate A and walk from there

the other idea I had was dropped near Pylle lane on A37 and walk in that way.

so from replies doesn't seem impossible,..... think will just leave them to it......I will be sat a van drinking!

as I work there I have never been on a shuttle bus so don't know the times they start although would be surprised that they were running on the Tuesday - have you checked this up ?
I certainly have not seen any on the Tuesday afternoon
http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/getting-here/by-train/ states - There's a free shuttle bus for Festival ticket holders running between Castle Cary Station and the Festival Bus Station throughout the Festival. The bus station is next to Pedestrian Gate A. The shuttle operates from Wednesday to Monday.
as that lists all the traffic restrictions in force from Saturday the 21st of June 2014 which may affect your plans as there is a entry about Pylle lane and Pylle Road and loads of other roads.
so what may appear simple to do on paper may not be all that simple to do in practice.

Think you may be right,

I emailed the festival office last week and they said bus running from Bath and west to gate A on Tuesday but no more detail than that.

that puts 4 - 18 year olds on foot trying to get to Gate C along roads that are meant to be shut.

Think will email festival office again.

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
