Being a pretentious git says a lot about a person as well

If stating an opinion (be it standard or controversial) and backing it with facts, examples or comparable circumstance rather than "lol", :smoke: or personal attacks makes me "pretentious" then shit, I'm the worst person in the world.

I'd like to see what facts you have to back up the claim 'taste in music says a lot about someone'

Yep, everyone on here knows exactly what I'm like now I've stated The Beatles are overrated.

I'm such a terrible person.

Everyone does seem to think you're a terrible person, I have seen you been called a bellend more times on this forum more than anyone else. I would have to agree with them to. You add nothing except insults, lol's stupid smily face things..

Righto, say you meet someone who is your age wearing a one direction t-shirt. Honestly would you be keen to engage with said person.

Obviously this won't apply to you but on the same token, If someone was walking about at a festival with a I hate the Beatles t-shirt on would you not think, what a bellend.

Someone is there with their friends to see the 1975, a group of people show up in Slayer t-shirts. Do they instantly make friends or do they look at each other and think..... probably not my sort of person

The t-shirt thing is only an example to get your opinions across in the real world, you could just go around telling people, it would have the same result

I was going to say something more along the lines of:

5 people are in a room ones favourite band/singer is Arctic Monkeys, another is Parkway drive, another is Pavarotti, another is Lily Allen and the other is Miley Cyrus.

Knowing nothing else about the people, who would you assume would be the person you would like to talk to the most?

I'd have a better conversation with the Pavarotti fan I think.

This really only works with plebby groups of people that only hang around with people who share their music taste, like those weird bunches of scene kids, and annoying as fuck wannabe mod kids.

I listen to Radiohead/The Cure/Depeche Mode, and half of my friends listen to Desolated/Cannibal Corpse, some of my my friends listen to Bastille/Jake Bugg; it really doesn't make any difference to your personality.

Whilst I don't deny that in some situations music taste can sometimes have an impact on your first impression of people, it certainly doesn't tell you a lot about someone's personality. A lot of my friends (yeah I have friends haha how did that happen?) like some of the shittiest music I've ever been exposed to, but that doesn't mean they're not great people.

Anyway, these are not facts they are scenarios.

Also, this:

Music tastes are all opinions people, welcome to the 21st century.

I wasn't talking to you I was talking to the user that said I went round insulting people (unless of course you are the same person?)

I think you're looking at this the wrong way. My 3 favourite acts are The Cure, Bowie & The Smiths. My best friend's 3 favourite groups at the minute are Rudimental, Plan B & Azaelia Banks... Our tastes in music does not mean we cannot be friends, but if people were to look at us they could definitely tell who has what taste in music before we speak.

Original point was you can tell alot about someone from their tastes in music. And you can. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Although everyone does have their guilty pleasures.

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
