Orange Car Park

I am looking to camp in Oxlyers again this year and looking at the map Orange Car park is going to be best.

Does anyone have any tips how to make sure I get to park in Orange rather than being ushered to other car parks as has happened in other years.

Driving down from Liverpool on Tueday night and aiming to arrive at site about 6/7am.

Any help would be appreciated.

You don't get to choose where you park - the stewards will 'usher' you to where they have been told to fill up next - early does not equate with closer to the gate, sadly! You'll either park in East or West, depending on which direction you're coming from, and the car parks are clearly signposted on the roads in - blue for east, red for west.

TBH for Oxylers it doesn't really matter which gate as it's so central, but D is probably closest - so head for the west car parks.

Is that the case?

We come down from Liverpool, and as far as i'm aware, we have ended up in same car park both times. Except we were alot closer in 2011 mind something like W12, as opposed to W45 or whatever in 2010.

After all why would you send people from Liverpool for example, to an east car park, and then someone from London for example to a west, it'll only increase queues. Am i not right in thinking that the signs have little stickers on, indicating what site your heading towards? or is that just my drunken memory playing games?

But if you're coming through Street and Glastonbury Town, then you should end up at Oxylers entrance

I'm confused, as ever. The G website says that those aiming to camp in family camping at Cockmill should follow the purple route. But you're talking about orange and blue? East and West? I'm coming from Kent, so think east parking will be the natural choice, is this purple route? Anyone have the SatNav postcode for purple/gate A?

We normally drive round until we get to the carpark colour we want. They do try and guide you in but you can say no

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
