The best way to cope with the sheer scale is to plan like fuck. Map out the distances between stages - allow plenty of time - and plan the optimum musical itinerary based on the Clashfinder; you may need to make hard decisions. If, at any point, you are down to meh! bands for a bit, then eschew the stages and race round the Greenfields; get the feel of the hippy stuff, but quickly. Look through the food thread and plan your meals too - don't limit yourself, you wan the full Glasto experience.

I would recommend doing all this on mushrooms - again, getting into it wholeheartedly.

Bring a welcoming and accepting attitude, you'll fit right in :)

This thread has lit my excitement torch for the year. I am now finally accepting that we'll all be back there in just a few weeks, a little merry and all the better for it.

PM James Bolivar immediately and ask if he'd mind being your guide for the weekend. He's a crazy mo-fo but you will have the weekend of your life due to his unbounding joie de vive!

Your only challenge will be to keep up with his non stop dancing and merry making! ;)

my first ever festival was Glastonbury 2007 at the age of 17, set me up for life that year, not looked back since, kick back and enjoy the goings on.i just have a constant smile when i am at Glastonbury worst thing about it is going home

Just take your time and mark out about three acts you really want to see each day and take it from there. Glastonbury has so much to see and do it would be a waste to rush around and miss everything.

  • 5 weeks later...

Please do come back to this thread after the festival to reassess your usage of the word 'overwhelmed' :-D

You will have an awesome time, it's easier than it might appear and certainly easier than many other festivals due to the extra freedoms so you'll be fine with your experience

    • Been a pretty rainy June where I live (no where near the festival). What’s the weather been like in Pilton recently?   How’s the ground doing?
    • Couple of degrees warmer please.
    • With this being a fallow year do we know if the Beeb is going to show any past years highlights or make sets available on Iplayer to give us some glasto content as we await a return to the fields?

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
