Chai Wallahs?

In 2012 Chai Wallahs took over the running of the old Kaylied Stage, which in my opinion was the best change in 2012 compared to 2011 (I think the Calling Out stage was in the wrong location last year).

However, I can't recall seeing anything to indicate that they will be managing the area this year (nothing on the Chai Wallahs website, the official KC website or the festival listing page on here.

I really do hope they're back this year as, for me, overall it was the best stage for me (the Dreadzone set stole the weekend for me).

Has anyone heard anything that has yet to be published?

Surely we're due an announcement soon about Chai Wallahs...at the moment there are only 4 act confirmed for the 'Kaylied Area' (Dub Pistols, Mr Scruff, Lauren Aquilina & Kwabs).

Looking forward to seeing some decent stuff again.

I was thinking the same Mick, looking forward to seeing some decent acoustic and quieter sets in there and hopefully a few decent headliners. Get dreadzone and the semolina pilchards back, the 90 minutes Beatles singalong the other year was a blessed relief with chase an status on the main stage !

According to the latest list this is the final announcement, theres gotta be more for Wallahs unless its been seriously downgraded as the latest line up page on the official site still only lists around 14 names. I would expect with a stage that goes on till 3am thatll probably double by the time the festival starts

Not that fussed about household names, probably be a different festival for me this year having a 6 month old, I won't be able to stand in front of stages all day watching bands. Well I could but the missus would probably batter me !

Spent the evening taking a proper look at Chai Wallahs....have to say that I'm excited about some of the reggae/dub that's lined up over the weekend.

Think I'm going to be spending quite a lot of my time in or around the tent....so much better line up than the main stage.

There appears to be a bit of confusion for the Chai Wallahs line up.

For example, the official KC site has Dub Pistols on Saturday. The official Chai Wallahs site has them down for Friday.

Do we go with the official KC site or the official Chai Wallahs site? Hmmmm

Been doing some more investigations into some of the lesser known performers from Chai Wallahs over the weekend:

  • onlyjoe - deep & serious reggae
  • Polaroid 85 - haunting tunes,
  • Will & The People - pop reggae...fun stuff!
  • Katy Carr - haunting yet enjoyable tunes
  • City Shanty Band - bonkers! but well worth a listen for something different
  • Hallouminati - gypsy jazz!
  • By The Rivers - reggae with a touch of ska
  • Sam Bradley & The Intermission Project - a couple of acts to listen to in order to get over the Sunday morning hangover

Looking good.

Did you go to the woodland stage much last year mick, the few times I went the acts had a similar sound to chai wallahs. Decent setting if the suns blazing and you just wanna chill out away from the crowds
