Ticketplan - worth getting?

Or is a con and they'll never pay out?

Mrs is pregnant - due middle of July. To be honest, it could go either way - in the next two weeks shes seeing a specialist to see whether the C section is going to be early - so it might be middle of June. If so, shes keen to go to Glasto!

But, just in case, I was thinking of this insurance. Never know - she could be unwell after C section. Will this cover this?

I suppose they can't say pregnancy was pre-existing - she wasnt pregnant in october when we bought the tickets!

I think they (and most travel insurance providers) would probably say she was pregnant when you bought the insurance though... :(

I wonder if you could find a travel insurance policy that would specifically cover pre-existing conditions - I seem to recall my stepdad (who has a number of illnesses) finding travel insurance through Saga that although cost a bit more covered him for anything that happened related to his pre-existing illnesses. TravelSupermarket might be a good start.

Cheers StoneCircle. The policy does mention 'normal' pregnancy not being covered which is fair enough but surely this means something out of the ordinary would be covered?

Not aware that there might be problems but, I would like to check coverage by being honest up front. At the moment, shes due 10th July so no problems surely? If for some medical reason she has to have beforehand then surely this is exceptional? Like I said, at the moment, nothing has been said its just a guess that they might elect for C section middle of June.....

The problem with insurance is that all these companies are happy to sell to you and then use these vague clauses to not pay out. Its wrong.

I thought with you mentioning the C section that it was definitly how your wife was giving birth. If this is the case the insurers would class it as an operation that was already on the cards when the insurance was taken out therefore rendering the policy useless.

If she is currently presumed to give birth without a c section then taking the insurance out should cover you.

Good luck, and maybe worth giving Ticket Plan a call :)

I'd be surprised if you'd be covered. The ticket balance is due this week technically you are well aware of the risk when you pay so would be very surprised if the insurance company would pay out. They would ask why you didn't just cancel your tickets and not pay the balance if you knew she was heavily pregnant and unlikely to be able to go.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
