Drop off point

Hi there, has anyone used the drop off point? Can you walk to it from inside the festival site. My 11 year old is away with the school until friday and we were thinking of getting her uncle to bring her to Glasto friday night and meet them at the drop off point but I have just looked at the website and it mentions buses to Gate A which is no good for a child on there own. Failing that if we park in a car park on Wednesday will we be able to get out on friday evening to collect her from home ourselves?

the drop off point is usually at the Bath and West Showground, not a realisitic walk. The shuttle buses drop off at Gate A on the A361, the West side of the site. You could try and get the shuttle from Gate A to the drop off to meet them (can't see the drivers objecting, all the passengers of Friday are coming in not out). The drop off point may be busy on Friday and the wait may be long at the Bath and West End.

Alternatively, yes you will be able to drive out but you will not park back in the same place.

I don't know if anyone has done this, you would be going in the wrong direction on a Friday if going back to the drop off point. I can't see why a driver with an empty bus on the return leg would refuse to take you if you explain why you are doing it, especially with an 11 year old waiting for you.

I would stick my 11 year old on the bus, after all her uncle will be there one end, then you have the bus driver and you will meet it at the other in the coach park. Near me all 11 year olds use the not very salubrious london buses on their own to get to school and back.

If not, I would just drive out and pick up from the drop off then drive back again.

As for the drop off point how does it work with luggage does it all go underneath? I mean if between our group we had 30 crates plus wheels and then all the usual camping equipment are the shuttle drivers happy to just load it all on board?

& Did anyone use it in 2011 were there long queues to get onto the shuttle?

I am also planning to get the shuttle from the ShowGround on Wednes morning

I'm sure the shuttle has it's own personal lane in order for it to not '.... get caught up in the traffic of punters attempting to get to the car parks' :airkiss:

So how long during the festival? Anyone know? Will be arriving at the drop off point @ 8am Wednesday morning. So do the shuttle buses get caught up in the traffic of punters attempting to get to the car parks?

Errr ... I was joking

please read Anderson's post and you will see

have you driven on the local roads ?
where would there be room for a personal lane on ' public roads ?
its about four miles and depending on the traffic flow will dictate how long it will take.

Only buses / local vehicles are allowed to turn from the A37 into the A361. So it is a kind of dedicated busway that generally keeps the buses moving. Only problem is getting to the A361 turning in the first place, and sometimes the buses waiting to get into the bus station back up onto the road.

    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
