I didn't following instructions... Well besides a "brief" from the client... The design was mine... The code was mine... The ideas where mine... The software was my baby... Well, until they paid the invoice :P

I am not just a code monkey :P

You are a code monkey.

The client said "I want this result". You followed their instructions and gave them that result.

The innovation was theirs and not yours. You had as much innovation in the result as a shelf-stacker does with putting tins of shelves for a hit product.

You are just wrong wrong wrong :)

They did no innovation :) They turned to me for the ideas :D

I am not special... But I dam good at what I do... And it makes money and there aren't the million to hand you think there is.

Yeah, you didn't follow thru on their request for a loan application system and build them one, just like i said you did, did you? PMSL.:lol:

And I'm sure there were huge innovations from you the code monkey, who needed to tell a loan company how to manage loan applications because they didn't know anything about loan applications.

But you don't believe you're special, oh no - you're just a standard man with a computer who knows the loan business better than loan companies do. And that's why they employ you.:lol::lol:

The point is that a contractor takes no risk and does nothing extra at the end of the day to someone who turns up on time to their daily grind.

The only risk a contractor takes is of being unemployed tomorrow cos they have no contract. But that differs how exactly to the likes of those workers at that refinery in Kent or wherever it was whose parent company went bust recently, and turned up to work to be told "that job you had? No more. And the last month you've worked expecting to be paid for? Tough shit"?

As for the skill levels of someone who does the same as Barry, they're actually pretty low. They're certainly picked up and honed an awful lot quicker than was the case for nearly all apprenticeship jobs of 30 years ago (as opposed the apprenticeships in stacking shelves that the likes of Tesco offer nowadays).

The problems that exist within this country are not centred on workshy people wanting a cushie life on benefits, or people on low pay struggling to get by, they're centred on workshy people on comparatively huge wages who swan around (or spend all day posting bollocks on the net) thinking they're somehow special and deserving of more than those who put REAL graft in.

The likes of Barry likes to think he's got special skills that few people have. And yet there's far fewer of his ilk or any ilk who would be able to succeed in job that requires real graft as is required by (say) a groundworker who spends all day digging holes.

He might say to that "but anyone can dig holes". Yeah right - if he spent even two hours digging a hole he'd say "fuck that, I'm off to claim dole".

Yet anyone is able to swan around pretending to be of huge importance while fucking over the company they work for in a Fred Goodwin style. Anyone at all. That takes no special skills at all.

So if you didn't get child benefit money, you would still pay for holidays, but not for swim lessons, child seats, etc?

Also, you should read this:

http://www.cracked.c...to-stop-saying/

Edit: I know it's meant to apply to the very rich, but a lot of the crap you've been spouting in this thread follows the same themes.

A great article, that gets right at it. :)

No I would still pay for it if I could afford it ?

The cb money goes into an account which is used to pay for the things for the kid... Like swim

Lessons, car seats, high chairs. Clothes etc etc. whatever she needs

When cb goes it will be paid for our of income streams lot not paid for at all...

So, taking that...

If you didn't get child benefit money, you would still pay for things like that.

You've said earlier that if you lost out on income - which the child benefit money is a form of - you would cut down on luxuries first.

Therefore the child benefit money isn't actually paying for things like clothes, because you'd fund them out of your overall income with or without it. It's paying for your holidays and other luxuries.

^^^^^^^^^

THIS!!!

Barry is too stupid or too self-absorbed to recognise it tho.

Nope

Cb money goes into an account w d that money is used on her.

It would never fund anything but her activities / needs.

There is always something needed to be paid for if it's clothes or something more fun

You are viewing it wrong...

CB money is kept ey much separate is only spet on child. Simples

Yep, you're certainly simple.

By doing that, it frees up other parts of your income that would be spent on your daughter if you didn't get CB for other things, other luxuries, such as money towards holidays, nights out, and dare I say it ... perhaps Sky TV.

Your stupidity is astounding.

You're right, I take it back. You are special, spectacularly special. It takes a very special person to be as stupid as you.

No it's called managing your money

you should never lump things like CB in with your generall income other wise when it's cut and you where using it to justify your mortgage for example then you are fucked

Holidays are only paid for out Our savings account when we have enough saved

Basic money planning

No, it's called managing other people's money - after all, the child benefit you receive is not money that you've earnt.

You're no less guilty of spending benefits on luxuries than than any benefit claimant with Sky.

I still can't believe that someone who considers themselves an software engineer can't get their head around this oh so very basic principle. Its embarrasing

he reckons he's smart enough to tell a loan company how to manage loan applications because that loan company don't know how to do it, but he's not smart enough to understand the very simple money concept we're putting to him.

Amazing is an understatement.

It's like a school playground in here sometimes :)

The average thought ability to work things out is certainly at that level anyway :)

Barrry, try reading this, and kicking you brain into gear.....

You have an income of (say) £40k, which includes child benefit.

(the actual amount of your total income is not important).

You have fixed expenses of (say) £39k.

(the actual amount of your fixed expenses are not important)

That leaves you £1k for luxuries.

You get about £1k in child benefit.

That means that your child benefit enables you to have that £1k of luxuries. Without the £1k of CB, you could not have that £1k of luxuries.

Therefore the CB you receive pays for your luxuries.

Pretending that the CB is spent on your fixed expenses is empty bollocks, because the proof of it buying you your luxuries is made if that £1k of CB is taken away; as a result of it being taken away you are unable to afford that £1k of luxuries.

Got it? It's very very simple, no more simple than you are.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
