Putting up tent in the rain

I've been going to Glasto since 98 (even that didn't put me off) but luckily I've never had to put the tent up in the rain!! How do you do it without getting the inside wet????? Hopefully it will be dry

Spread the outer sheet out and put the pegs in, then get under it and put the inner bit up still get a bit wet though

Good tents you put the outer skin up with the poles and then attach the sleeping bit to that.

Shit tents you get it wet.

That is the reason I only buy tents that pitches outside first

Well except for canvas tents which only have an outside.

Simple, before you go make sure the inner tent is already attached to the outter then all you do is put the poles in and it pops up complete and the inner stays dry.

What I plan on doing is putting the gazebo up first then putting my tent up under the gazebo and then moving it out.

Nah, no need for that. Like the nice people said, put the outer up, with the inner still bundled up in the bag. Then take everything inside, and do the rest in shelter.

I've done this *several* times at festivals.

Much more important -- if rain's at all likely, make sure your sleeping bag is in a waterproof bag - bin bags are fine. Whatever else gets wet, you want your sleeping bag dry. I speak from bitter experience. The first night of Bestival 08 was pretty miserable. Especially since, not 2 hours earlier, I'd turned down the offer of proper bed in a proper house in Ryde.

well this is our 25th Glasto anniversary. going since 86 but not to every one unfortunately, also many others and ive never had to put the tent up in rain-Could thiss be an omen

They are all duff! mine lets air in too, although i fixed it by wrapping it in duct tapeonce id sucked all the air out
