Not sure if this has been said before and apologies if it has but if a lesson is to be learnt here is to basically get over the fear of camping on the main site and just slum it with the rest of us. It's a lot less risk to your bank account for sure.

Hey hey heeeey...

I'm just coming from the camp where we didnt have glamping in the past and we coped quite well enough before such things were invented. Spending out on a tent that is no different from one you bring yourself on site (and quite often a lot smaller) but shell out the cost of a foreign holiday to stay in just doesnt make sense to me personally.

The Myhabs I saw at T in the Park last year were teeny and I know I would be loathe to parting with a feckton of money to live miles from site at the G, up a Hill of Death worse than the one at Gate C and pay to do this.

Leave out of this, I never mentioned it for starters thank you very much. <_< It's not precious to me, its convenient, my friends live there, its central on site and doesnt cost me a penny! I even got to go home with a brand new tent too.

AND...did I say at any point 'it serves you right'? Get off your high horses guys. What I said was without prejudice, sarcasm or hate towards any of the people affected by whatever the sheisters that own Myhab did. It just is not a risk I would ever put myself in and I made as statement referring to this. At least with camping within the festival's own boundaries in your own tent you KNOW you dont have to pay anything extra or put your weekend at risk paying for someone else to put your tent up for you or if there will even be one on site when you get there.

The use of the word 'slum' is a generic, tongue in cheek description as you well know.

It is a luxury that people can afford and good on them if they choose to part with money for a tent they cant take home with them but dont have a go at someone who just thinks that doing is is a bit silly. That is all.

The only benefit if anything (to the fest) is at least Tangerine Fields/Myhab/whoever takes the tents home with them to their base at the end of the fest.

As someone who doesnt have the luxury of a well paid job and a thus dont have a throw away attitude to money, I will forever remain someone who just doesnt 'get' why people choose this risky option. I apologise if people miscontrued my opinions.

I reckon for some people, Glastonbury IS their holiday, so spending a little extra isn't a problem. I personally wouldn't book a Myhab but I don't mind lugging my shit across the site and struggling to pitch up... Ok that's a lie, I do (!) but I tend to forget quite quickly after a few drinks! :) I think if you have the $$ and want to have a bit of luxury, why not! Sucks that they didn't provide what people paid for though.

Good luck to all on refunds - don't give up!

I hate the walk to and from the car.

I hate sitting in the car park on Monday for hours on end.

I hate people falling into my tent at random o clock.

I would hate trying to find a spec for my tent late Thursday night as this was the earliest time I could get down this year.

Booking into the Myhab field solved all of the above.

By the way spoke to my credit card company yesterday who are sending out claim form for reimbursement.

Overall very satisfied. We (well our friends who arrived first) had to erect our tents, but no real hardship. Have to be grateful that after myhab pulled out that there was an alternative provided. Hill is very steep but quite short. Like others none of our party could be bothered to shower due to size of queues. Toliets were fine. Definately, the biggest plus point is the proximity of the car park and ease of access we arrived on Thursday evening around 6 p.m. and drove straight in.

only negative and thankfully (luckily) we were not a victim but there were a number of robberies from tents on Saturday night, including from the tent immediately behind us. One of the two girls had their bag stolen after tent had been slashed with a knife. Their stuff was recovered and the culprit (b***stard) caught but a concern as on the whole the security appeared to be ok.

Thanks luciousLucy for your advice  I am sure all involved will be grateful for your lesson. I guess in reponse to your views some people like to 'slum' it and others don't, much the same as when you book a hotel LuciousLucy you may well be happy with 2 star whereas others will not book lower than 4 star which does not mean they have any type of 'fear' but that they expect (& maybe can afford) a little higher standard of comfort and service but cheers anyway for your wise words

I have filed a claim with my credit card company and have received their form to complete. One of their requirements is that I send them evidence that I have attempted to get a refund from MyHab - even if MyHab don't respond.

Therefore, I would recommend you email and write to MyHab at their registered address (details on their website, or via the Glasto website). However, and very usefully, the Green Tent Company were kindly giving out (at their office at the top of the field) the home address of the tosser James, who is the main (only?) company director:-

James Dunlop

18 Beverley Close

Camberley

Surrey

GU15 1HF

A reckon a letter from each and every one of us to James's home address might, at the very least, start pissing him off - the minimum he deserves if you ask me. Of course, we could also all get together and go round his house to 'pay him a visit'...!

Good luck all.

In the meantime i think it needs to be re-emphasised that if you do get a refund you should seriously consider passing that (or an element as you see fit) back to GFL to compensate for their losses. This is particularly important for those who booked tents through MyHab and may feel that as they had a tent provided by GTC they have not lost out and have no intention of pursuing things further. Remember that MyHab still have your money, and have not provided you anything for it, and that in effect Wateraid, Oxfam, Greenpeace and a whole host of smaller but equally important causes paid for your weekend accommodation. Please try to redress that balance as much as you can.

Has anyone successfully got any money back from myhab yet?

We paid for ours via paypal and apparently you must claim within 45 days of the transaction.

Obviously we didn't know then that the services would not be provided by myhab.

Anybody got any ideas of any thing we can do?

We want to donate the money (£430) to Oxfam as we felt we received fairly good facilities, thanks to Mr Eavis, but at the expense of the charities.

Am pursuing trying to get a refund so far I have found out the following:

1) MYHAB are in breach of contract regardless that the GFL and The Green tent company provided us a facility.

2) I have tried to claim a refund via paypal, but as payment was made over 45 days ago you cannot raise a disputed transaction against MYHAB even though they where only just due to provide the service (also paypal don't cover services only tangable goods)

3) If you paid by credit card you can pursue MYHAB via section 75 look @ http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases.

4) If you paid via debit card you can pursue MYHAB via charge back from your bank again look at the above link.

If you are pursuing using either section 75 or charge back, you need to provide as much evidence as possible that you have tried to get your money back and that you didn't get the service provided. So include copies of letters / emails that you send to MYHAB, print screen the info from GFL website and MYHAB website that states that they didn't fullfill their obligation. Also keep chasing your bank as you only have 120 days.

One plus point is that companies house is still showing MYHAB as being an active trading company.

If all else fails there is still the option of pursing MYHAB through the small claims court.

Hope this helps :) will keep people udated as to how I get on

I've been up to my neck with stuff, so haven't had a chance to look into this until now. I've written another email (which I know I won't get a response from)and then will wait for a week before sending out letters. Will contact my bank as well.

As for the festival, I really enjoyed it.

Myself and my friend got to the site on Wednesday morning, so was lucky that we found a tent which was already erected (and still standing from the high winds!). We did help a couple of ladies on the Thursday (or Friday, lost track of time) to put a couple of tents up as by that time it was a do it yourself job!

As for the toilets and showers, most mornings I was up at the crack of dawn so managed to beat the queues thankfully and the toilets were kept pretty well (although a couple of times it was "search for a cubicle that had toilet paper!).

We did hear about a few thefts as well, which was a real shame, there are some right tossers out there.

The hill, well I called it "The Hill of Death"! But saying that after the first couple of days I soon got use to going up it and I'm pleased to say that through the amount of exercise of walking up and down that hill and generally walking, standing and dancing I lost 1/2 stone in weight. I would recommend the Glastonbury diet to anyone!!

As for the food and beer tent at the top, I thought they were excellent and not too expensive.

I would like to say a big thanks to those working at the sumit (both the security and peeps serving in the tents)they did a grand job.
