MYHAB

Whilst not in any way attempting to support Myhab (esp as the writing was sort-of on the wall many months ago and all that although they did at least appear to get over that hurdle) but sh*t can (and certainly does) suddenly happen sometimes so it might not be entirely their own fault. For instance, it is by no means that unusual for Banks various to simply pull the rug out from under companies and by no means always 100% justifiably so either. I'm absolutely NOT suggesting that this is the case here as I don't know anything at all and I doubt anyone else other than those directly involved knows for certain exactly what has happened behind the scenes either. However, idle speculation and/or making even remote allegations is probably not a good thing at this time no matter how bitter the taste in the mouth may be. Just get on with having a good time at Glasto and count yourselves bl**dy lucky that you actually do have somewhere to go and will be receiving something relatively close to what you paid a significant amount of hard earned do$h for.

Had this been another festival then I would very much suggest that you would be heading down to the nearest Millets/Argos/Wherever with Mr.Credit-Card in hand to buy equipment various and (not) be looking forward to camping with the masses instead of being able to post on here right now ;)

Top marks to ParsonJack (and various others) B) for suggesting that any refund received from Myhab via any means *WILL* be donated to the festival or it's good causes to help compensate for the money that may well be lost due to the festival footing the bill for providing alternative arrangements even though they almost certainly aren't obliged to. I sincerely hope that this can and will be done by everyone in due course.

Can I perhaps suggest that after the festival when the mud dust has settled and it hopefully becomes reasonably clear what's happened, that someone sets up an appropriate JustGiving (or similar) page to very vocally solicit such action from ALL of those involved who are able to obtain refunds in one way or another. Please also take the time to get appropriate professional advice and seriously consider taking group legal action if needs be, with any proceeds going directly to the festival and/or it's good causes. You guys pretty much haven't lost out in this apparent fiasco ... please try to make sure that no one else other than those responsible for it do either :)

I think that it's probably a blessing in disguise that this was announced with so little time to go before Glasto starts. I'd imagine that if this was announced a month or so ago, the email might have been more along the lines of "We've gone bust - you've got a month to get down to Millets and buy yourselves a tent, and you'll have to camp in the main site with the smelly toilets and hardly any showers"!

In terms of getting the money back.

Do I assume it is best to go straight to credit card company with a complaint that they have not provided what we paid for?

Is it possible to start the ball rolling now or will we have to wait until after the festival?

Will the credit card company want us to try to get refunded via Myhab initially? If so how long is a reasonable time to wait until it is apparent that this will not be happening.

Thanks for your advice.

Thanks Eonica

We sent an email earlier today, will probably contact CC company tonight and then forget about it until we get back. Then once back from the best few days of the year will chase up and hopefully get to donate a big chunck of money to charity.

If Myhab go into liquidation or any of the legal bankcruptcy proceedings you should get the majority of your money back through the standard Section 75 terms with your bank/credit card issuer. But you can initiate a chargeback fairly soon for 'goods or services not provided' same as anything you buy with a credit card (don't think this applies to Debit Cards though). As mentioned above you do have to show you contacted the company and tried to get a refund issued directly or resolved with them - your bank/CC will want this on any paperwork, but then once the festival is passed and Myhab failed to deliver, you can get the chargeback process rolling.

Be patient - most credit card company people on the phone don't know much about the process (I've worked on both sides so I've had to explain it sometimes!) but all credit cards are legally liable to recover or compensate your lost money. If Myhab can't pay - your credit card company is liable up to several thousand pounds (not that MyHab cost anything like that). They will most likely try and put you off or delay the repayment - some CC companies are better than others - but the money should be returned eventually. You just need to get the chargeback forms and fill them in with details. Takes about 4-6 weeks in my experience. Debit cards you have a bigger problem and will need to approach on section 75 fraud grounds and hope MyHab gets a proper liquidator and you are not losing it all.

I'm really happy ME and the festival took charge and have provided all of us with some replacement for the loss. That's a really brilliant move and should get a lot of thanks, in public. I'll be following up my chargeback on Myhab since they're now just sending out an auto reply to emails and not answering the phones and more than happy to put that straight back into a charitable donation of Glasto's choice.

We'd booked a myhab tent after the last place we tried camping with went bust too. So apologies as it's probably our personal karma overhanging the festival! Wherever we go - financial disaster seems to follow... ;)

Have fun everyone. See you in the giant shower queue!

Sorry to hear about this but its good to see that Glastonbury seems to have looked after you all.

My company used to store and transport the myhabs about to different festivals, they were absolutely shocking payers and we ended up locking them out of the warehouse. They only got them back after some other company stepped in and paid the bill.

This was around 2009 so I guess they ave been struggling since then but I had kinda forgot about them until I saw this thread.

Hope you all get your money back, the bloke who runs this company is a grade A tosser from what I remember from my dealings with him.

I've just registered here to say thanks to you all for all the info. I only found out about this this morning and was panicing. Ran down to the local Millets store to buy a couple of sleeping bags (this was before I saw that if you had already purchased them, you will still get them), but I will just leave them for charity plus anything else I don't want to cart back.

So long as I've got a roof over my head, then I'm happy. Would be great to have somewhere to plug my phone in to charge, so hoping that there will be some sort of pamper area. Can't be bothered in bringing hairdryers etc, I rather go with the natural look of being dragged through a hedge backwards, heck, it is a festival, lol!!!

See you guys tomorrow. Our tent will be decorated with the Guernsey flag and some Guernsey donkey stickers, lol!

Just to add to the "Well played Michael" posts, nothing ceases to amaze me about that fella!

I have booked a tent anyway so no real change for me.

Sent Myhab an email 2 weeks ago asking for my local residents pass and car par pass to be sent o an alternative address. All looked hunky dory with a response from James saying noted, no problem.

You guessed it. Local residents pass turned up on Friday at the wrong address and no car park pass in their either, should have guessed things going tits then.

Will be donating my refund as well, sent an email to James today just to get the trail going but sure we are bottom of the creditors list.....

    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
