Orchard Farm camping sometimes used the gate as well, though their gate was techically further round at Normans Gate (I think it was called), or failing that Ped D. Pennards Gate was 'paid for' by Myhab according to my Supervisor (who also manned it last year).

Very easy access to and from the site. I would have a thought a numbering system for the tents would have been better than just finding your own as by Thursday afternoon it got quite hard to find an empty tent.

Having the car nearby was a godsend. Didn't use the showers as the queue was too long and it seemed like too much hassle.

The hill wasn't that bad imo and any inconvenience was far outweighed by not having to carry your stuff the quagmire. I had the dubious pleasure of having to walk up to Gate A to meet someone late friday afternoon and let me tell you it was bloody hard work withput any baggage. Though the hill was a killer on friday night

Nice to have a bar at the top of the hill though for a quick nightcap and to recouperate. One criticism of the bar was that I would have thought 'chilled out' music might have been more apt. It looked by the state of some of the wellies people stayed there all night, rather than having the inconvenience of actually going into the festival, and listened to Wham and Michael Jackson

Looking at some of the festival campsites by sunday morning I can honestly say we don't think we would have coped down there so I guess it was worth it for us

The hill isn't so bad, it's just so far out from the festival itself. Not sure I will return (assuming someone takes over that site in 2013).

The bar wasn't a great setup. They should've had the bar inside a giant tent with seating, and definitely chill music, rather than their distorted overdriven pop from a shit PA.

I loved it up there. There hill was pretty hard going, but wasn't awful and you were treated to the best view of the festival site once you got up to the top. I liked the bar and cafe which were perfect for a quick spot of something just before bed, although I'd agree with JayJay that the music was just a bit wrong in the bar, but everyone working there seemed nice and friendly and the portions of food were huge too.

The tent was fine and had a nice big porch. I got a fairly good sturdy one, but there did seem to be quite a few tents that looked like they were on their last legs already - quite a few doing an impression of the Pyramid Stage! It was so lovely and quiet with a good amount of space in between tents. It felt like proper camping.

The queues for the showers in the mornings were enormous so I didn’t bother using them, apart from the Sunday night. Is it me or was switching the power off the loos and showers at 10am on Monday a little bit too early? There were still plenty of people milling around then.

The parking was a god send, as was the drive to and from there avoiding all the other festival traffic.

If GTC do the tents next year (or someone else in that field), I shall deffo be there again in 2013.

By the way, does anyone know what’s actually happened to Myhab? Did they go bust or was it something more dodgy? Looking at their website, it seems they’re still doing two festivals in Ireland.

Overall very satisfied. We (well our friends who arrived first) had to erect our tents, but no real hardship. Have to be grateful that after myhab pulled out that there was an alternative provided. Hill is very steep but quite short. Like others none of our party could be bothered to shower due to size of queues. Toliets were fine. Definately, the biggest plus point is the proximity of the car park and ease of access we arrived on Thursday evening around 6 p.m. and drove straight in.

only negative and thankfully (luckily) we were not a victim but there were a number of robberies from tents on Saturday night, including from the tent immediately behind us. One of the two girls had their bag stolen after tent had been slashed with a knife. Their stuff was recovered and the culprit (b***stard) caught but a concern as on the whole the security appeared to be ok.

We stayed there this year having used MyHab last year and really enjoyed it. Have to say that hill is 1000 times worse in the rain and mud than it is on a warm balmy evening!

Thank God Mr. Eavis pulled out all the stops to get things sorted for everyone, the man is truly a saint. Think next year we'll use Tangerine Fields though....... as with a lot of people it seems we didn't bother with the showers as the queues were far too long (and I really missed the Pamper Parlour too).

Not complaining though - as always, had a FAB festival :D

so, considering this it looks possible that Michael Eavis may also have covered the costs for providing the essential services too, not just the tented accommodation provided by GTC. If that is the case then GFL, and the charitable causes it supports, may be more out of pocket than we may think.

We got there on Wednesday and we too had to re-pitch our tent because the centre part had snapped in the wind. Still compared to the main site I was glad we were up the hill. We didn't have that much mud and it was quiet - I slept quite well. Yes, the hill was a bit steep, but I don't think it was so bad, some days we walked up it twice.

My only complaint was the showers seemed to be cold at night. I don't know if they unconnected them from the gas, or if the canisters had run out, but I tried to take a shower at night to avoid the queues and got a bit of a shock turning on the water! :O

As for the thefts, I overheard someone say the money out of their wallet had been nicked and someone did try to get into our tent while we were sleeping on the same night, but it could have just been someone getting lost. It was hard in the dark to find your way home when all the tents looked the same!

I'm still thankful for Michael Eavis for sorting out the tents and getting us some place to stay.

Got there around 10am Thursday, I was in a group of 4 where we'd ordered 2 tents, as there was no tents together, we ended up using a tent we took ourself and putting up on of the GTC tents aswell to keep stuff in. The tents weren't the best quality, the lack of showers for the amount of people was ridiculous.

But in general the staff were very helpful and friendly, the bar at the top of Pennard Hill aka 'Suicide Hill' was very good, nice friendly staff, uplifting funny cheesy pop music keeping us entertaining and a welcoming place. Considering Michael Eavis, Glastonbury and The Green Tent Company had literally a few days to sort this out, I think they done an amazing job to get the facilities in place no matter how little they was, excellent job by them.

Tangerine Fields for 2013 as that hill is awful especially when wet, but hopefully the Green Tent Company will make better tents and replace myhab and hold a yearly residency on the Pennard hill camp.

Amazing weekend, nice campsite.

Job well done! :D

i filed a claim against myhab with my credit card company this morning for services not recieved. they said myhab had gone into administration, have quite a number of claims going through at the moment and are confident i'll be refunded in full.

i'll be donating to one of the glastonbury charities if successful :)

i paid for our MyHab with the PayPal option on the website when we booked and didn't think that we'd have any payment protection as a result when MyHab pulled out, but....realised on way home from work today that my PayPal account is linked to my credit card, so phoned the credit card company and they say we should be covered even though the payment went via PayPal...seems that as ultimately the payment was charged against the credit card we should be covered for the non-provision of services by them...

..hopeful now of being able to pay Michael his money back without needing to go through the refund hassle from MyHab themselves...

fingers crossed :)

Whatever has actually happened to Myhab it does seem that the various rumours are most likely right and it's pretty terminal as they're defo a no-show for the Irish festivals as well it would appear:

As previously posted on oxegen.ie, MyHab will not be at the festival this year.

Oxegen have teamed up with Tangerine Fields to come to the aid of anyone who had already purchased a MyHab for 2011.

We will provide a two-man tent and mattress for all those affected.

i really am not sure if we stand much of a chance receiving a refund at all. I have put a claim in with my credit card company and they are sending me the claim form which i have to complete and send back with emails and evidence. The issue i can see is the email myhab sent us on the Monday reads that we would have the same facilities and experience as paid for just provided by GTC instead. I stayed last year with myhab in a myhab and booked the same again this year but the experience was very different with number of people, inadequate showers and dirty toilets, lack of pamper parlour, but is this tangeble to the cc company as not receiving the same service? and they are not to know the difference between a sturdy myhab and a cheap tent which broke in the mildest wind? Now I know Myhab didn't provide us with the service we paid them for but if that apparent service was supplied by a different provider would we be entittled to a refund?? anyone with a better understanding of consumer credit law or contract law?

Not sure if this has been said before and apologies if it has but if a lesson is to be learnt here is to basically get over the fear of camping on the main site and just slum it with the rest of us. It's a lot less risk to your bank account for sure.

    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
