Hi All,

Just wondering if those of you who are already there would be able to find out if GTC are planning to sort out the portacabin with power sockets? I know someone posted earlier that there's no sign at the moment but maybe something will happen today?! It's brilliant that GTC have stepped in and I'm really relieved there are showers but I can't be the only girlie with long hair thinking walking round with wet hair if it's cold and rainy is not ideal.... If it looks unlikely I think I may be making some last minute purchases today - Festival hat & shed loads of Batiste dry shampoo! :)

Also can anyone give us an idea of how many tents have been pitched by GTC?

Hope to see you all there tomorrow morn!

Thanks for any replies, K

ah cool, that puts things in perspective. I'm getting down there tomorrow as well, but my group aren't arriving until Friday. Hopefully I can reserve a few around the one I get for them :)

Is there an entrance in that big wall somewhere, just below the camping site?

if you look at this today

http://www.picmequick.com/pana?folder=22-6-2011 (load it in firefox or chrome - ie is sh*t)

above the tipi area, you can see the myhab/GTC area, then scan across, and see how many tents there are, theres loads and loads of them, and thats with the tree cover in the way. we are not getting down there until tomorrow (thursday) evening coz of work, and was a bit worried, but all looks fine!

hope this helps,

chris.

I stayed in that field in 2009 when it was run by a different shambolic outfit called ######. The field is large and the car parking is close to the tent area. It is a very short steep hill from the top of the viewing area behind the Tipis to get to the campsite. There is a pedestrian gate in the fence there solely for the use of people staying in that field. The toilets/showers will probably be in the same place alongside a shed wall. Can be quite a walk if you're camped at the other end of the field.

In 2009 they ran a taxi service between the pedestrian gate to the field. Consisted of mad Poles driving buggies and at least one overturned on a hair-raising sprint down the hill.

It is right on the crest of the hill and so very windy at times. But an amazing view of the festival site when you round the corner at the top of that hill. Don't underestimate that hill. We left the campsite with everything we needed for the day and didn't return until we needed sleep. It is a short steep slog on top of the long slow slog up to the viewing area.

edit:apparently I can't mention the name of the 2009 shambolic outfit! The system has turned it into ######

My friends have just put some stuff in my tent while I slog away at work. I've asked questions aboout the site, but I've yet to hear back from them, but apparently my car is a three minute walk away, so hurrah for that!

The truth. GTC have done a great job, the parking is 2 mins from the tent at most. You can bring your own tents if you want, if you have one it is a good idea. The GTC tents are basic but ok, there is a lot of people in the camp already and you may have to put up your own tent. In general the main site is very muddy but the GTC field is fine.

Just another question, how do we actually get to the campsite/find it/check in etc? I'm arriving by bus tomorrow afternoon, do you have to find your own way there or does someone escort you from bus 'terminal'?

I very much doubt the ticket price will include a personal escort! Esp now they've done one.

I'd find out where you're being dropped off and where the site is, before you arrive if you can, otherwise it could be a tough find!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
