Arriving Thursday Morning

I'm not going to be able to arrive until around 10am on Thursday, from what I've seen on here the majority of you will be getting there on wednesday morning (wish I was one of you!) will I have trouble finding a spot to camp?

Last year, I arrived Wednesday afternoon and knew where I wanted to put my tent. Unfortunately it was one of the busiest ones.. So it was a bit of a push finding the space. I don't think you'll have trouble if you're willing and okay with being on the outer skirts, rather than one of the fields right near the stages.

But then again, I'm no expert! :P I hope you do find a good spot.

If you come in through gate A and walk down through the new fields towards the west of the site you should find somewhere easily enough

As the other posters have said, there is plenty of space. You are just not going to have as much choice where you plant your tent. I had to get there Thursday morning in 2009 and I had no trouble getting a space for a 4-man tent on the outskirts.

I got there at 12pm on Thursday in 2009. We came i from pedestrian gate C and had to walk about an hour until we managed to squeeze in a spot over by the Dairy ground. It was bloody hot though luckily not raining and wet which would have been worse. Yes there is more camping space now but it depends on how far you have to go to find it. You will not find me coming that late again.

Depends..if there's just you, you shouldn't have a problem squeezing in wherever. I have a lasting attachment to Kidney Mead. Last year was my first year back in 'civvy' fields, after working a few years. I arrived on Friday evening, was met by friends, told them I was heading for Kidney Mead. 'You'll never get in there now!' 'Oh yes I will'. And lo, a me-shaped space just off the beaten track.

I think with the busier, 'closer' more popular fields, they get filled up quickly with huge teams of mates all camping together, saving space and putting up other people's tents. Consequently, as they are usually big, noisy, teams of campers, other folk give them a bit of a 'berth' before setting up nearby. Hence, small 'moats' of space are available around them, later on when they've settled in. I was camped between two such groups of about 20-30 people either side. Not everyone's cup of tea, I realise, but I had a great time.

My point:  Always space anywhere for an individual tent. (Pop-ups come into their own here actually. Once opened, that circle is your footprint; guy ropes optional. Just gotta look for space for your circle.) Any more than one tent and you're pushing it, I reckon, in the busy areas. Although as others have said, plenty of space further out.
