Camping in Holts?

For most years I've been we've camped in the Holts field - where the Hari Krishnas were. Usually a bit loud (definitely was in 02 before they quietened stuff down), but really good location for getting to most places.

However when I got there as early as I could on weds, the vastly reduced public camping was gone bar a few spots far too close to the edge.

We camped there last year and I loved the location, handy for everything. But its very hard to get space there, we got in by the skin of our teeth and ended up at the edge. Aiming to camp there again this year so fingers crossed!

Previous years there was massively more space, so it was a much more realistic proposition.

I'm aiming to be there even earlier this year (ie, not starting to queue at 8am on Weds as I did last year, giving myself a few hours of queue to get in).

A map for this year suggests it should be ok, but then the map didn't show it correctly last year: http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/data/image/2011map.jpg

I'm an ex-holts camper and decided before last year that it was time to move to a new location, glad we did because there seemed to hardly be any camping space in holts at all!

We've found our new home... park home ground is awesome! loads of room, and only slightly less convenient for everything than holts/ pennards.

I do miss the hare krishnas though :(

Shame, the market area/stages has encroached more and more and sometimes holts looks like something from madmax to an outsider. I always wondered what camping there was like, prime location for sure although maybe not for either sleeping or space.

If I can't get undleground this year (crosses fingers!) I'll be aiming for park or dairy most likely, good access to the railway line is crucial.

Holts was ace, close to all the action, it wasnt that noisy as well. Actually it was once the jazzworld started the floor used to vibrate.

It was pretty chilled there though and the campsite was not actually that rowdy
