Iron Maiden - Dunno if they'd be booked again.

Aerosmith - Unsure if R&Lwould book em.

Pixies - Would love them but I think theyd drop one if not two slots with nothing new and no reformation this time.

Smashing Pumpkins Stock has fallen not a bad sub or third down though.

ACDC - I doubt it after download festival having to essentially become a two day event with an ACDC gig on the Friday.

RATM - Too soon without any new material

SOAD - Would love it, but no visibility of them this year

Linkin Park - Not particularly a great booking but steady away

Green Day - They don't like to compromise the length of their sets (3hrs or so). Own shows on the horizon, but still possible

The Cure - My pick of the bunch (unless the Pixies didn't drop a slot or two)

Van Halen - Not right for the festival I think

Coldplay - As above, haven't played in ages

Slipknot - Not after what Corey Taylor Tweeted. Plus although worthy headliners, I still don't think they would headline R&L yet.

can't really see it being any of the others really, linkin park do seem the most likely - from what neil says green day look more likely to do their own tour and i've always said this - i can't see melvin booking them and foos in one year! the others i have no real reason to rule out other than that i can't really imagine any of them - as amazing as most of them would be!

which leaves us with linkin park or (unfortunately) bloc party, even though i don't think melvin would book them the same year as kasabian.

from your list though, i'd guess one of linkin park as most likely and green day and soad as equally unlikely (but more likely than the rest)

lets just say if led zep were announced, I'd be extremely happy that i already have my ticket! obviously not going to happen though:(

genuinely have no idea who headliner 3 could be... all the reasonable suggestions seem to be ruled out or extremely unlikely... green day would be phenomenal as would soad but other than those 2 all i could hope for is a massive name that no-one thought they'd ever get (and chances are they will never get - like led zep or aerosmith) but it'll probably end up being someone shit... like bloc party

Well its all about supply and demand, where as you could have seen the Foo's or Green Day on numerous occasions over the past few years. The last Led Zeppelin shows were in 2007 where they broke the world record for demand in tickets where over 20 million people requested the chance to get a ticket for the show.

Now are you still trying to tell me the Foo's and or Green Day would make the festival sell as quickly? I very much doubt it. Led Zeppelin would make the festivals sell out in one day again.

i never suggested foos or green day were in as much demand as led zeppelin are! i merely said that both foos and green day would want 2 hours at least and not accept anything else as you suggested in your post that that was a reason led zeppelin won't headline!

I don't think Rammstein have the pull of a Reading headliner. Download and Sonisphere definitely, but not Reading. Could see them subbing, but won't happen. Would be awesome though.
