Flavored Vodka Thread

My cherry drops didn't really work for me, wasn't impressed with the flavour, the pear drop son the other hand are what is known on the street (apparently) as "da bomb"

Another bottle of vodka being bought on the way home tonight along with a bag of glacier mints and I will be all set with 1.5 litres of flavoured vodka for next week. Although reading above, the werthers option is tempting....

So here's the finished product, remember I've added too much food colouring to the toffee one, but it looks ok, but more importantly tastes lurvly!

I started mine last night.

For some reason thought it was 200g per litre was the recommended sweets amount.

I'd seperated a litre of vodka into two 500ml and only put 100g of Rhubard and Custard and 100g of Rosey Apples in. All pretty much disolved by this morning, but may top up the spares tonight depending on the current taste.

Stupidly though I put them both in 2litre bottles, so they look pathetic amounts at the moment, as it doesn't even look a quarter full in each (but obviously are).

We've just embarked on our first flavoured vodka! Not sure if it will work, but we've used red & purple skittles in one and orange & yellow in the other - will eat the greens later. The only slight worry I have is I mixed the fruity & sour ones as that's all I could get hold of!!

We'll have to see come Wednesday :D

People here have said to use a coffee filter, we're going to use some kitchen roll. There's a nice gunk on my vodka, it looks like the fat after cooking the christmas dinner... I hope it doesn't taste like it

Dissolved most of a bag of rhubarb and custards into about 400ml of vodka and I'm still all worried that it won't taste very nice. Had a horrible experience with not enough cola cubes in a bottle of vodka at bestival.

Flavoured vodka veterans; how much vodka would you recommend for a 200g bag of glacier mints? I'm planning on making some for Latitude, but you Glasto folk seem to know what you're talking about!

I used 200-250g of sweets per 500ml. I used 500ml bottles(empty water bottles) and in these quantities, 1 litre of vodka made up 1.5 litres of sweetie vodka(i.e. three bottles). The mix has turned out just about right(like a liqueur) not too thick to shoot but tasty enough to put with a dash of soda water. :)

I reccommend 200g of sweets per 700ml bottle of vodka.

Also coffee filters are best (in my experience) for getting the scum off the top of the werthers toffee vodka. Unless you have brewers finings of course which are best :)

Planning on doing a few Cherry Drops for TITP, would it be worthwile doing even if its left for only 3,4 nights?

Apart from placing it in hot water, is there any other tips on how to help the process.

Cheers guys,

Just got two plastic lunchbox containers and filled them with:

1. Bag of skittles (minus green) and 35cl vodka

2. 5 Vimto Bars and 35cl vodka

I've put the lids on each container, is it best to just leave them now, leave them in the fridge? or what else is my next step before the filtering?
