Out of curiosity, do people still think they'll headline

The new album hasn't done as well as a lot of people were expecting and they've already got a tour announced for early 2011 which hasn't sold out

Personally I could see them much more suited to being a subheadliner

I wonder, if R&L ever provisionally book someone to headline and have a clause to bump them down if the album is not successful. I doubt it like as the exclusivity would go out of the window. Just as the album has done so poorly and they've took so long to get the album out I think many fans may have moved on from there music, and they haven't had the chance to make more with the lack of new material.

they're probably a bit too big to play second top, and maybe not big enough to headline. when an act is at that in between stage, i think they should give them a chance as a headliner. i imagine they'd get a big crowd. people seem to put their personal opinions into things too much on here, there's no doubt that they are really popular.

In all probability, they were down to headline the Friday of last year. They had a new album coming out, a wave of publicity the only thing that stopped them this year was the rejection of the album by the record company (It doesn't happen very often), losing a band member after the last album and one of them having a child, these factors just ground them out of headlining this years festival.

So, Melvin had to go with the back-up plan and it turned out exactly as everyone expected, with Guns N' Roses making a disgrace of their former glory.

i recon they've had a massive blow to their popularity. weather or not they liked it they road a fad (emo) and now that fad is dead and the orgional fans grew up. they have the poptential to headline, they are good enough live to headline, but they won't. there just not as big anymore. its a shame becuase i rather like the new album and gets got rather good reviews.

i recon for any mcr fan a NME tent performance would be INSANE, which would be perfect as everyone who hates them won't see them. thus were all happy.

I think the album will be actually selling quite well. Sure it only went in at number 14 but it's Christmas which means any act releasing now has to compete with the Rihannas, Take Thats and Susan Boyles who all save their big releases for this time of year. It will probably sell enough for them to headline and provide them with a few more well known hits. Therefore I'd be surprised to see them not headlining the main stage anywhere.

Got my hands on a copy of the new album yesterday and was pleasently suprised. Im not a MCR fan either, not a fan of Black Parade, hated Cancer with a passion. This albumk is however, just a fun pop-punk album with references to hair metal, glam metal ect thrown in, has some gret wailing guitar solos in it as well, lots of fun. Never thought id ever say that about a MCR album

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.

    • Knocked Loose have been announced for Wacken, that's them at Bloodstock as well   I think they'd headline over Malev
    • I hate tradmill running with a passion lol. Yeah the 1km reps are the one along with hill reps. That's what I did last time.  It's very a very hot summer and job circumstances to stay at the consistent level I was for the marathon earlier in the year. I've got a full set of the main distance new PBs this year. 10k isn't a problem most days but even today I went out deciding just over 5 mile was enough between recovery cruise and steady.
