Rush have always avoided the summer festival circuit in the UK, though Lee hints there might be a change of heart over major events like Glastonbury.

"For a while we steered away from big festivals, because you've got to be prepared to strip it all down for that kind of show," he explains.

"But we played some festivals this summer in Canada and in the US and they went really well. So it's got us thinking that maybe that's something we would do over here in the future."

Ha! Denz! beat me to it!

I have to say that I dont think they would do Glasto but if it did ever come off, I would be inclined to leave after the set as I just dont think I would want to remember Glastonbury any different after...

Some might understand I have a small soft spot for Rush....

Hah, beat me to it by 3 minutes!

I'd be up for this certainly. Wouldn't pay to see them normally, but would like to see them once, and Neil Peart's one of the best drummers in the world, so would watch them for him alone.

Planet Rock interview is on tonight in Nicky Horne's show.

During the interview Geddy talks about the band's forthcoming new studio album, when they will be returning to the UK for live dates and why Jack Black appeared naked onstage with Rush a few years ago.

Would love to see them at Glastonbury but think it's highly unlikely, can't see them doing less than a 2 hour show so they would have to headline, might have to pay my first visit to Download by the look of it! BTW am I the only person in the world who thinks Grace Under Pressure is their best album?

If they play Glastonbury and I don't get a ticket in the resales, please keep me away from guns and sharp objects as I may just have to top myself. My favourite band in my favourite place. It would just be perfect.

Agree with the comments about "where on Earth would they go on the bill?" and "Sonisphere and Download more likely" though. I may have to break my "other festival" cherry next year.

See you at the almost inevitable Wembley shows next year then.

Toronto Globe and Mail interview with Alex Lifeson, says:

"We were off for a year and a half, and now it's just pouring. Everything is totally crazy and there's not a minute left in the day. We've got these half-dozen songs, and we'll probably go in the studio and work on a couple of them and see how it goes, perhaps release something - and I say perhaps - and then we plan on being on the road in the middle of June. Ideally, we'd like to showcase a couple of these songs on the tour, come off tour in mid-October, go back in the studio and continue writing, then record through late this year and early next year, and then release the album in the spring of 2011 on a slightly more substantial tour. This [year's] tour will probably be about 45 dates. Most likely summer, 2011, would be more like 70."

final thought/memory just occurred to me. I was standing at the back of the Avalon tent this year watching Avett Brothers and I noticed a bloke next to me wearing the bright all-red Rush '88 tour shirt, with the Birmingham, Wembley and Ahoy Rotterdam dates on it. It was a prized shirt of mine for decades, that the wife finally made me discard just a few years ago due to holes getting bigger, etc... but i definitely pointed out to the fellow what a classic shirt it was and how surprised i was to see it at Glastonbury in 2010.
