No Wormaralda... I meant what I said ie mostly ill-informed do-gooders.

Without being drawn into a full blown For/Against discussion because there is many angles to it..what I can say without hesitation is this-- you cannot make a horse run and jump if it doesn`t want to. All this hype about horses being flogged etc makes me sick.

I hear the armchair jockies in the bookies bawling their knapper off cos they`ve had 20p on and they think the jockey should have done this or that.

Tell yer, I`ve rode horses... and until you try and control em personally--you wouldn`t believe hhow hard it is. If they dont wanna go--they wont.Simple as that.

Only a fool would think or expect it to be. What it is though is a fantastic spectacle and tradition. I haven`t had a bet on the national for about 25yrs. Its daft from a punting point of view--but for the general public--its a great thing. Once a year punt and shout from the rooftops (or forums) if you`ve won etc.

It is amazing though when you see that some horses do run to form over the Aintree fences, given the luck in running.

I had a good result on the national this year, the winner was backed on its own and I had a £1 forecast on him to beat oscar time :P I never fancied any other horses in it.

I reckon I would lay united winning the treble. Cant see them winning the champions league if they get Barca in the final

Correct. But you can make it think that it wants to jump.

That's a stupid argument anyway. There's nothing wrong with horse racing. There's everything wrong with the Grand National.

anyone place any bets on the royal wedding?

i had a few

. Chelsy Davy to be Prince Harries +1 @ 11/8 - after I bet it they took the market down, I max staked it..but when I say max it was only like 40 quid

. No - will it rain on the day @ 11/4 (bet it when it said chance of rain = 40%) that's not an 11/4 shot!

. Worldwide global tv audience under 2billion @ 10/11 - I just couldn't see how it could go over 2bn!! although everywhere reckons it will be now :<

i had a look an hour or so before. queen to wear a yellow hat at 2/5 was the only one i would have risked. others were sermon under or over 6.30, length of train, how late she would be, how long the walk up the aisle would be etc.

not really worth it.

i did win 45 quid during the week on man city to beat blackburn at 10/11 or something. thought they were crazy odds with blackburns form. same as i think bolton's odds are ridiculous against them today. though i might lay a big bet on hibs today vs st johnstone. st johnstone haven't score since febraury i don't think and it's at easter road at evens.

    • I see, well even if they aren't on sale it's still not a disaster sales wise, it's not like they are struggling to sell a half capacity areana
    • Blue dot wouldn’t be a thing if Ticketmasters dynamic pricing went down as well as up, it proves that the dynamic pricing was just a scam to make more money rather than something that moved with the market supply/demand.
    • I agree that we’ll never really know up until the concert happens (and even then we still may not know) but I think promoters are having to come up with new tactics to combat ‘blue dot fever’ (already hating that phrase!) and trying to imply that concerts are selling better than they actually are / available tickets are in short supply is definitely one of them.    To add though, it is quite common at the O2 Arena for the rear blocks to not go on sale (and then remain closed for the concert and covered over to hide the empty seats). And equally common for standing to sell out first, then side/lower tier seating next and rear/upper tier seating last.    Jungle’s two concerts at the O2 are a good comparison for this - for their 1st (announced) date, all blocks are on sale and seats in all sections remain unsold, whereas for their 2nd date, the rear blocks are greyed out (more so than for Muse) and equally lots of seats remain unsold in the blue blocks. Standing for both concerts are showing as sold out.
    • MGK can and should headline. I was at one of his shows earlier in the year as a very casual fan, and there were a lot of alt people there. The show was actually class and he completely won me over. Anyone who opposes him headlining is just a gatekeeper imo, we need to move with the times.
