Ladies - how do you manage?

I've been wanting to ask if anyone has any tips for managing a period whilst at gthe festival for ages and the mooncup thread in chat has encouraged me to do so.

Never been before and heard lots about the toilets - if any of the ladies have any tips I'd be very grateful. There are welfare tents and midwives tents....anyone know if there's a period tent?!?

Thanks x

not that i would advise having one just for glasto but a mirena coil is great at reducing or stopping altogether periods. the hormone only acts locally to the wonb so far less potential side effects than the tablets :D

So if you're at a point of reviewing your contraception, a mirena could be a winner :D

I recently came off the pill just to have a break, I was on the mini pill which more or less stops you having a period. After two full on periods I am back on them again with Glastonbury in mind. Would not want a heavy one there!!

I take Tranexamic acid ( a clotting drug) at least keeps it under control and no side effects (for me anyway)

If you are on the pill I would take it back to back to avoid a period at a festival. When/if it does happen though you just do as normal-not very nice

I've always wondered if I was a bit weird that my pill meant Inever really get periods but this thread has well and truly put my mind at rest! Agree with the posters who say if you do get a bleed, just run your pill through. I've done it plenty of times before, wouldn't advise taking more than two packets in a row though.

I heart my contraceptive pill :D

I tricycle my pill so I only have a break (and thus a period) once every three months, which is brilliant. But yes, if you're not on the kind of pill that gives you the option to do that, go to your GP at least a week in advance and explain you need to delay your period. I think you need to start taking the tablets three days or so before you're due on.

I'm on cerazette so I don't have periods any more. I kinda miss them though!

If I wasn't on cerazette and it happened to be that time of the month at Glastonbury I'd just deal with it as I always do. I personally wouldn't use tampons because all that drinking and if you take other stuff too, I'd be worried about forgetting how long I'd had it in for!!! I know towels aren't as nice but at least they can't kill you if you wear them too long!!

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
    • Oh well that's why then, I assumed it was still the same. Thanks!
