Anyone working this year?

Hi everyone, new here.

Just wondering if anyone else on the forum is working this year? My mates and I are doing litter picking on the John Peel stage from Friday-Monday, 6am-12am. This was the only way that we could get tickets for the festival. It will be my first Glastonbury and first festival experience (unless day tickets to T in the Park a couple of years ago count). I am really excited about seeing Fat Boy Slim, Hot Chip (they were amazing in Glasgow earlier this year), The Courteeners, Muse, Editors, Delphic, We Are Scientists, MGMT, Faithless and The Kings Blues (again they were brilliant in Glasgow). Also want to see Mumford and Sons and Frightened Rabbit which are two of my favourite bands from the homeland. On top of this I can't wait to experience the rest of Glastonbury.

Hopefully see you guys there!

Hey

I'm also fairly new, and also working at Glasto! Me and 2 friends are on the Shangri La team, Mon-Fri, 6-12. It's the first time I've been since I was about 10 so really really looking forward to it - its getting me throuhg my final exams at uni!

Also looking forward to Muse and Fatboy Slim, but from what I can remember and what I've read...I'm pretty much just going to amble about till I see something interesting!

Nice to hear I'm not the only person going for the baptism of fire work/play approach lol

I'm working (stewarding with Oxfam), my brother's working (running a stand for his electric transport business), my sister's working (Buddhafields Cafe), her boyfriend is working (he works for my brother), my littlest sister is "working" (she's in a band, playing a few gigs on small stages about the site) and I've got a few friends who will also be working at a few other locations.... not as many as I will this time next month though!

Generalising:

Most crew areas have showers and somewhere to get food & drink. One of the largest, Oxfam, even has a choice of caterers, whilst the smallest such as Lock ups may only have a portacabin with a stash of cider tubs and a kettle, and not much else (although they build a lovely fire area, to compensate!).

Litter - well, those in Tom's field last year/year before - had a fairly big catering tent with beer, and showers that were a mix of individual ones and single sex communal ones. All temporary units.

There's also shared stuff, such as the toilet / shower / laundry block at the farmhouse. That gets very busy from Wednesday onwards.

I'll be working from Wednesday on the Strumpets with Crumpets stall. I know its a 24 hour operation until Monday but other than that don't know the hours or shifts until we get there. I certainly don't expect to see or experience a great deal of the fest this year but seeing it from the other side is an exciting adventure...and the conversations to be had with punters in the wee hours of the morning is something I'm really looking forward to.

Getting on site from the Sunday hopefully and can't wait to meet (and party with) the gazillions of other crew in the build up days.

Whoever said they are on the SL team, how did you wangle that please? Working with them is my next mission. I was told its very difficult to join that group. Prove me wrong. :P
