The " I'm a Download Festival Virgin " thread

Hi all,

Having been a regular to T in The Park for many a previous year, I looked at the line up and almost shat myself with laughter as to the line up. :P Sadly, back in Feb my T dreams were dashed. Personally i think that any festival that has Eminem and Kasabian as headliners is a joke. Not to mention the plethora of neds (chavs in England, scalleys in Ireland etc, etc) that will descend on Ballado this year due to this...

Aaaaaannnnyyyywaaaaaaayyy.... I was sitting in work one day, and as you do I was farting about on the net when I read that Aerosmith are playing at Download :P Aerosmith were the first band I ever seen live and they were incredible. Since then I think I've had 2 chances to see them since that gig in Glasgow in 97, but alas none of which I could make due to other commitments. So, Su-f**king-Perb bought a weekend camping ticket straight away on that basis alone. THEN I see that the other acts are none other than RATM and Acca Dacca. Love Rage, but missed them as could'nt make T in The Park 08.

Literally, you could not have picked better headliners in my opinion. Knew the big songs from AC/DC and like them, but never listened to them extensivley before. spent the whole of the weekend just passed educating myself in the ways of AC/DC. Again, like Aerosmith, amazing back catalogue. Rage, well, im a big socialist and Rage are right up my street in every way. So, yes, imo the best festival headliners imaginable, well done Mr act booker.

Having said all that shite, and hopefully not bored you too much I was wondering what my fellow Download virgin' thought s are, along with the veterans, any valuable inside knowledge tips about carting the booze to the site ( T is a nightmare, about a 30 min walk with heavy booze, well i am Glaswegian lol..) Cheers folks.

If you mean the Festival broadcasting the England games then its cool, no football being played there. lol

But seriously, im well looking forward to this, probably the most excited i've been about a fest ever, looking forward to meeting lotsa new folk and boogying with my mates. Now all we need is sunshine.

I'd sell my soul for 3 days of cloudless sky.....Possibly w*nk a tramp.

I always say I'll bring them but never actually bring wellingtons. Hopefully no need, but if there is you'll see me in the cue for them as soon as the weather gets bad.

Btw. With the football I was joking, meant England won't be playing football cos thier gash at it, but as i say, said firmly with tonuge in cheek. Annoyingly my football brain says they might win the thing. Pish

I've been going to Download for last few years but only for the day, never camped before. So this year I've gone 'fu*k it' and brought a weekend camping ticket. Slighty cacking pants as on my own and worried about how roudy the campsite gets after hours...!

Can't wait though. x
