Car tape deck help

I drive a Peugeot 206 (2002) and it doesn't have an Ipod plug, or even a CD player, oh no, it has a tape player. This is a right pain because of course none of my music is on tape. I tried buying a gadget from HMV that's shaped like a tape and has a wire in it that feeds into the Ipod. This would be great except it doesn't bloody work, the tape player just keeps trying to turn it over as though it was the end of the tape. So I need either:

A - A gadget that will work

B - A cheap way of getting my music on tape (sadly my stereo is also buggered or I'd use that), mind, can you even buy blank tapes any more?

C - To give up on my own music, in which case a decent radio station recommendation would be good, I'm from Wigan so I'm alright while I'm in range of XFM (Manchester) but that won't be long.

Any suggestions?

When I was in primary school (only 9 years ago granted) my Nan would play Radio 2 in the car and it was all really old stuff. The only change I'm aware of since then is that Chris Evans dj's on it now, which is a bad mark in my book. Do Radio 2 play decent music now? Wouldn't have put them in line with Glastonbury bands.

beats radio 1 music. i've listened to radio one for about 13 years, but i've finally grown out of the playlist. i only listen to evans and vine. the tunes in the morning are pretty good. the few tunes that vine plays are incredible!

Go to various charity shops and pick up some bargain tapes especially acts that are appearing this year. You have the means to listen to the original warped and twisty ( well nearly.....not quite crackly LP quality) sound of U2,Stevie Wonder,The Stranglers,Jackson Browne, Ray Davies and many more. Quirky, retro and fun all at the same time!

Those widgets have got little one-way mechanisms that will ensure that an auto-reverse tape player is running in the correct direction. You get a problem when the mechanism's a little sticky and/or your tape player's too sensitive. All you need to do is open it up and remove the mechanism. You'll then have to ensure that your tape player's going in the right direction manually but that's not exactly a problem. I know all this because I had the same problem. I think it was in a 206 (W reg, 2000?) as well.

The sound's not bad and, in my view, will be much better than an iTrip. I've never seen an iTrip perform well, despite people telling me that they're great -- I found the signal to be too weak and it's impossible to get a clear signal. It was a long time ago but I'm pretty sure I was unsuccessful with one in a 206.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
    • Taxi mafia running their usual scam.
